Fans enjoy watching their favorite driver and brand going at each other every weekend of the month. But unfortunately, the drivers, mechanics, and other people are also human and can only take so much. Therefore there is a very small margin for the FIA to increase the number of drivers and the races in F1. And following the hints of the F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali to increase the races, the players have raised some concerns. The two of the very best in the sport have been very vocal about their ideas related to the extension in the press.
Red Bull Racers Not Happy With More Workload
The two drivers, Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez have been outspoken about the increasing race phenomena in F1. Twelve months ago, Checo complained about increasing the workload on the drivers. He asserted that “Having too many races is a no-go – at least for me right now.” Perez talked about how they are already so involved with the races and other events that they don’t get time for other things. “I think if the calendar [expands] more, then I definitely will not do it,” said Sergio.
Max Verstappen also expressed similar thoughts about adding more things to an already hectic schedule. “I hope there won’t be too many changes. Otherwise, I won’t be around for too long,” said Max. It is clear that the racers will be frustrated if they will not even get enough time to spend with their families. However, it will also be a shock to see the players walk away just because of some tweaks in the format.
George Russell Also Discussed The F1 Scheduling Problem
This weekend, the F1 drivers were supposed to be in Shanghai, China racing against each other. However, a sudden cancellation gave them two weeks off from the track. Therefore Russell went to see his favorite tennis player Novak Djokovic. There the two briefly talked about the messed up schedule, which takes a toll on racers. Despite the mix and match, they could have a well-discussed schedule to avoid long hours of travel.
George Russell also told Djokovic that the drivers have collectively put forward their need for a systematic schedule. Russell also reckoned that “I think Stefano’s incredibly open to hearing our views and having conversations.” If the two parties can sit and talk about the situation, they could save a lot of time.
