Lewis Hamilton Supports FIA’s Rules Change That Can Push Max Verstappen Out Of Formula One

Max Verstappen, the two-time F1 world champion, does not care if he gets to win more or not. He already announced his retirement after the end of his current deal with Red Bull which will last till 2028. Sadly, the Dutchman finds it better to quit rather than to adjust to the fundamental changes made by the governing body of Formula One. First of all, the increasing number of races, then the sprints, the car models, and street circuits, nothing worked in lubricating Max’s will to stay in the sport for longer. He often criticizes FIA for the constant DNA changes of F1. However, on the contrary, there is Lewis Hamilton, the seven-time world champion, who stands to support that particular factor that made Max decide to leave the sport at a young age.

Lewis Hamilton kind of took FIA’s side when they announced another regulation change this season. Actually, just ahead of the Australian Grand Prix, on Saturday, a meeting was held, including all the F1 team’s bosses. The CEO of Formula One, Stefano Domenicali, has decided to implement a new format of sprint races. In order to make F1 more engaging and to attract more fans, the CEO has stated that from now onwards, there will be two Qualifying races during the sprint race weekends.

Lewis Hamilton likes The New Sprint Weekend Format

Stefano also hinted towards a major change. According to that, Friday’s free practice session may get discarded. Now, instead of a four-day action, they are preferring for a three-day weekend. Earlier, Media Day was organized on Thursday. But according to Hamilton, the four-day engagement gives them a lot of free time. “The time during the weekend can be organized,” he said with Motorsports Netherlands.

Even with the three days of action, a lot of time is left between the sessions. For Lewis Hamilton, this free time can be utilized as it will save a lot of time for traveling people. Hamilton explained, “The races held in the Middle East do not start before 3. pm. So yes, we get a lot of free time.” In conclusion, the Mercedes driver meant that a three-day weekend is a good option to consider.

Not only this change of format has got the support of the seven-time world champion. But also, the new sprint format has got his back. Speaking about two qualifyings, Hamilton said that it’s cool. However, he showed concern for some places where this new format may get dangerous. “Like Monaco,” this rule is not going to be good, suggests Hamilton.

But in all other aspects, the new format is liked by Briton. No doubt, any sort of fundamental change must have irritated Max Verstappen. Like each coin has two aspects, this format has too. It indeed will lead you into a more stressful environment to make the right choice in the practice sessions. Just after the practice, you will go for qualifying. But Lewis thinks, “It is great.” He enjoys it.
