Yankees Making Moves To Strengthen Pitching Rotation, Signs Ian Hamilton In A Minor League Deal

New York Yankees promised the fans a better off-season after a humiliating loss in the ALCS last year. Moreover, the front office devoted its entire focus to building a solid defense. For starters, the Yanks started investing in quality pitchers. They picked the strongest one from the free agency lot and signed Carlos Rodon in a six-year deal for $162 million.

Furthermore, the Yankees retained arbitration-eligible players, which included Frankie Montas. Yanks manager Aaron Boone confirmed Montas as the starting pitcher in the rotation before the pitcher went down with a shoulder injury. Hence, the Bombers’ front office engaged in a quest to increase the depth of the pitching rotation and have signed a former White Sox prospect in a minor league contract.

The New York Yankees have made a new sign-in two weeks before the spring training. The Yanks welcomed a 27-year-old pitcher, Ian Hamilton, by handing out a minor league contract. Ian began his minor league career with the Chicago White Sox in 2016. Later, in 2018, the picture was promoted to the major league. However, Hamilton missed the season due to multiple injuries sustained during a car accident.

Ian’s career went downhill as the pitcher was moved to multiple teams and failed to get enough game time. However, his minor league experience speaks a lot of volumes about his talent. Hence, the Yankees decided to bring Ian Hamilton into the bullpen as a future prospect. Moreover, even though the pitcher has received a minor league contract, the Yanks front office will likely invite Ian into spring training. The New York Yankees pitchers and catchers will report at the club’s Tampa base on February 16.

Cracks Appear In Bronx Bombers’ Starting Pitching Rotation

While the New York Yankees excelled on the offensive front last season, the weak defense led to their departure in the ALCS against the Houston Astros. As a result, the Yanks’ front office devised a plan to build a sustainable starting pitching rotation. Having Gerrit Cole at the top, they needed a strong arm to second Cole. Hence, the team inducted Carlos Rodon, a left-hand pitcher, to start second on the rotation. Rodon will be a crucial and unique addition, as his strong left arm will help the Yanks create an unusual right-left combination.

Meanwhile, the Yanks manager, Aaron Boone, showed a lot of faith in the rotation and said the current pitching rotation is the best the Yanks have had in a long while. However, Boone’s dream did not last long, as the starting rotation started to fall apart. Frankie Montas, the fifth starter on the rotation, will sit out for the initial month due to a shoulder injury. Hence, the Bombers’ are forced to find replacements in spring training.
