Rafa only played a couple of tournaments in Madrid and Rome before entering the French Open. Despite lacking the fitness to compete at his best, Nadal cruised to a victory in three straight sets. In just over two hours, Rafael beat Jordan Thompson during the first round by 6-2, 6-2, 6-2.

After defeating Jordan Thompson, Rafa will meet Corentin Moutet in the second round of the French Open 2022. In the first round, the French tennis player beat three-time Grand Slam champ Stan Wawrinka by 2-6, 6-3, 7-6(2), 6-3. Now, he will face the world no. 5 on Wednesday. The duo has never played against each other on the ATP tour to date. And they will have their first encounter in Paris. Nadal did not seem to have any issues with his foot during the opening game. So, he would look to cruise ahead into the tournament\’s latter stages, where he might face Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinals.
