Cristiano Ronaldo

Manchester United have found themselves in a rut during the transfer window after Cristiano Ronaldo expressed his desire to leave the club. The Red Devils insisted that they had no interest in getting rid of the Portuguese star, who returned to the club last year. CR7 signed a two-year contract with United and scored the most 24 goals across all competitions for the club. However, the Red Devils struggled to find consistency and finished sixth in the Premier League. Manchester United acquired the least points in the club\’s history last season and failed to qualify for the Champions League. However, the five-time Ballon d\’Or winner is in the twilight of his career and wants to play in the European league this season. Thus, Ronaldo and his agent Jorge Mendes have been actively pushing for a United exit.

Things became more complicated when Ronaldo did not show up for the pre-season games citing personal reasons. He was also accused of causing a distraction to the rest of the team by Manchester United legend Paul Ince recently.

Meanwhile, the new United manager Erick ten Hag decided to keep Ronaldo of the starting 11 during the start of the 2022-23 campaign. The team lost their first two matches of the season to Brentford (4-0)and Brighton(2-1). However, United put up a strong performance this week against Liverpool. The Red Devils secured their first win of the season by 2-1 in Ronaldo\’s absence. Thus, Ince insisted that Ronaldo was causing a problem for the United setup. He must leave the club before the end of the transfer window. Paul also stated that his former United teammate would not have accepted such behavior from any player back in the day.

Paul Ince Takes A Dig At Ronaldo

The former United midfielder Paul Ince said Ronaldo needs to leave Manchester United. Ince claimed that he, Roy Keane, and Steve Bruce would not have put up with Ronaldo\’s actions if he had been in the dressing room during their playing days. The Reading football manager added, \” And he wouldn\’t be getting away with anything.\”

Further, Paul believed that Ronaldo\’s exclusion from the starting XI against Liverpool was quite crucial to show people that life could exist without Cristiano at Old Trafford. Ince continued, \”He\’s been a distraction for everyone at Manchester United. You wouldn\’t see Lionel Messi acting the way he has at times.\” However, it remains to be seen if Ronaldo gets a start at St Mary\’s against Southampton on Saturday.
