So perhaps it was time for a change, and as a result, Hamilton and Cullen parted ways after a long time. According to Mercedes boss Toto Wolff, it was Hamilton’s call to let Cullen go, and the team will support him in every way it can. Albeit, the former Mercedes driver, Nico Rosberg, mentioned that it was not a very good idea.
According to the 2016 champion, Lewis Hamilton is not having a good time on the track anyway. Hence, leaving the long-time support at this time will only make things worse for the great Englishman. Rosberg emphasized the relationship between a driver and the trainer, saying that it is a special bond. For instance, going to dinner with a small group is common for a driver, and not seeing a familiar face may make things challenging to adjust to.

On the other hand, Lewis Hamilton said that even after their split Angela Cullen remains a close and dear friend. Hamilton acknowledged Cullen saying she made him the champion that he has been for all these years. And also made him a better person. He even mentioned that both of them still keep in touch by texting. The Mercedes driver also added that she has been supporting him all weekend via texting. Hamilton said she is still there with him in spirit.
Looks like the seven-time champion is very happy for his long-time friend to move on to a new phase of her life. Lewis Hamilton mentioned that they are very supportive of each other. And he is grateful to have her on his journey. But he is still excited to have a great team around him. However, what raises suspicion is that Wolff mentioned Hamilton talked about a need for change regarding Cullen. If things were so good between them, then what was the urgency to change and let go of her?
