The Los Angeles Lakers finally locked on to their next head coach after an extensive search. The LA front office fired the 2022 championship-winning coach Frank Vogel moments after the end of the regular season. After a terrible season in 2021-22, the Lakers have been looking for a coach. They were aiming to find a candidate who could lead the team to a championship win as immediate as the upcoming season. 

On Friday, the franchise finally locked on Milwaukee Bucks assistant coach Darvin Ham. The 48-year-old had served as an assistant between 201-13 with Kobe Bryant\’s Lakers. He had been an assistant under Mike Budelholzer since 2013. Finally, Ham got the opportunity to interview for the coaching job on Thursday, where the front office was impressed with his toughness, commanding presence, and winning experience with big players. The Lakers legends LeBron James and Magic Johnson were thrilled by the recruitment of Ham, who signed a four-year deal with the franchise. 


LeBron James Approves The Hiring Of Darvin Ham

Back in 2019, when the Lakers were looking for a new head coach, Lebron James and his representative agency Klutch Sports Group, informed the Lakers about their approval of Darvin Ham as a candidate for the head coach\’s position. While the Lakers chose Frank Vogel as the head coach, the franchise has finally listened to the King\’s advice three years later. 

The new Lakers head coach is hired from the three final candidates. And LeBron James was excited about the news as he shared a tweet. James shared his excitement about Ham\’shiring and congratulated the former Milwaukee assistant, welcoming the 48-year-old to the Lakers. With Doc Rivers unavailable, James is happy to have Darvin with the team as they plan on making a strong championship run in the 2022-23 season.

Further, LeBron was not the only Lakers superstar who was excited about the news. Magic Johnson also congratulated Darvin, recognizing the reputation he has in the league. Evidently, LeBron approving Ham\’s recruitment is a big deal. He did not make any public comment when the Lakers hired Frank Vogel. Darvin Ham has a big job in his hand with great expectations from the Lakers. Fans hope for a dream comeback next season from the champion franchise. It will be interesting to see how the decision works out for the franchise as they aim to win the 2022-23 championship.
