Chelsea Are The Favorites To Sign Cristiano Ronaldo Following Manchester United Exit!

Manchester United missed out on a Champions League qualification after finishing only sixth in the Premier League last season. Despite Cristiano Ronaldo scoring 18 goals last season, the Red Devils stumbled due to a clack of consistency and performance. Further, Eric ten Hag took the reigns as the United manager. Thus, a lot of transfer activity was expected during the summer transfer window, which will close in September.

However, the lack of transfer deals and the club missing out on the Champions League prompted Ronaldo to consider leaving Old Trafford. Amid transfer speculation, Chelsea is considered to be the favorite to sign the Manchester United center forward. Making a move would be a sensible option for Chelsea\’s owner Todd Boehly, after taking two tough blows during the transfer window. 

Moreover, Ronaldo\’s agent Jorge Mendes met with Boehly recently in Portugal to discuss a few players, including CR7. However, after the rumors, United stated that the 37-year-old is not on the market for a possible transfer. But, there is no doubt that Ronaldo is willing to leave the club to play in the Champions League. 

Sources suggested if the United CEO Richard Arnold receives a suitable offer, Cristiano would force them into taking a deal. There is a slight possibility that ten Hag can convince Ronaldo to play out his contract by making crucial signings. However, Ronaldo\’s intent to find a new club would be hard to deal with for United.

Can Chelsea Acquire Cristiano Ronaldo From Old Trafford?

The current situation at United has created a good opportunity for Chelsea to take on Cristiano Ronaldo. The Blues lost Ousmane Dembele and Ralphina to Barcelona this summer. As a result, Chelsea is pursuing the Portuguese International in hopes of making a mark during the Champions League. As per The Daily Mirror, Chelsea is willing to offer Ronaldo a performance-relayed salary package. CR7 is currently paid £500,0000 per week at Manchester United and is reportedly unwilling to take a pay cut. 

Another reason Chelsea is the favorite to acquire Cristiano is that United was interested in swapping Ronaldo for Bayern\’s Robert Lewandowski. However, the Polish International is hell-bent on moving to Barcelona, ruling out the possibility. Moreover, Ronaldo\’s desire to play his 20th Champions League season in a row is also a reason why he is thinking of leaving Old Trafford. However, where he eventually ends is yet to be seen. However, there is a huge possibility that Ronaldo is done with United. He will play the next season with another team who have qualified for the Champions League.
