The New York Yankees had been through a lot since the last season. They finished with an awful 82-80 record in 2023. The only good thing was that they were able to maintain the streak of winning seasons. But the fans have been unhappy with the NY side ever since 2009. That was the last year when the Bronx Bombers brought some joy to the fans, winning their 27th World Series. However, the trajectory of the NY side has been only downward sloping ever since. But last season was the worst in the previous 30 years. The Yankees had the second-worst batting average in the league. Moreover, they had a very poor outfield. But the front office made some significant changes this offseason.

They brought in some very heavy reinforcements. But the biggest trade for the Yankees was the signing of Juan Soto from the San Diego Padres. They had been looking for a couple of lefty sluggers this winter. Before signing the Dominican superstar and Trent Grisham from the SD Padres, they received Alex Verdugo from their arch-rivals. However, they have been looking to sign a dependable starting pitcher this offseason. The NY side signed Marcus Stroman for a two-year deal. But which free agents available in the market can sign a longer deal with the Yankees?

The Yankees have tried to convince the former Padres starting pitcher to sign a six-year deal worth $150 million. However, Snell has refused the NY side’s initial offer because he has been looking for a nine-year deal of around $270 million. Teams like the arch-rivals, the Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles Angels, and San Francisco Giants are also running for signing Blake Snell. But there’s no guarantee that they will be willing to sign him for a $270 million deal. Snell’s agent, Scott Boras, may not accept the Yankees’ deal. But if he accepts, the NY side can re-engage. However, there are other options in free agency from which the Bronx Bombers can benefit.

For instance, Gio Urshela 3B, Donovan Solano INF, Wandy Peralta LHP, Keynan Middleton RHP, Phil Maton RHP, and Brandon Woodruff SP are available. Gio Urshela is a contact first bat. But he’s very injury-prone. Hence, the Yankees can offer him a $7.5 million deal as an upgrade over Oswaldo Cabrera. But the Yankees may finally seal the deal with Wandy Peralta. It has been going on for the whole offseason. But the NY side can sign another reliever, Keynan Middleton. The Yankees can get him for a one-year deal.

Moreover, the NY side has been through ups and downs this offseason as well. They would have loved to sign Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who was so close to being a Yankee. But the LA Dodgers got him instead. On top of that, it is still unsure if Juan Soto will wear the Pinstripes for a second year in 2025. But the 2024 season should see the Yankees outfield performing in a dominating fashion.

They have impressive offensive power with Aaron Judge and Juan Soto. And then, if Giancarlo Stanton can stay healthy for as many games as possible. Anyway, the Yankees have the most improved outfield this winter. The Yankees Nation hopes for a great season ahead.
