Aaron Hicks

Aaron Hicks is probably having a bad time with the Yankees these days. Some of the well-wisher fans of the New York Baseball team are groaning about his stay because the team needs to play well and clinch the championship as soon as possible, and Hicks is probably not having the luck to prove how useful he could be. In terms of choosing the players for the 2023 MLB season, the Yankees have done a great job so far. They offered the most expensive offer to Aaron Judge, had Carlos Rodon and Andrew Benintendi, got back Anthony Rizzo, and many more great players in order to make the field evenly stronger.

However, the team needs not only to hire great, known players but also need to exclude some of the previous players. And Aaron Hicks is on the list of those who are not yet confirmed if they are about to play for the upcoming season. Spring training is coming nearer day by day, and all the Yankees are not yet decided. For Hicks, who is under the contract of sic years 3 out of which is completed. What to do with Hicks is still a question that the team needs to look after as soon as possible. However, looking at the nature and history of the sport, there are options left that Aaron Hicks might undergo with.

  1. The Yankees will trade him.
  2. The Yankees can release him.
  3. Stand pat

Now let’s see what the chances are for each of the above-mentioned options.

Will Aaron Judge Get Released Before The Spring Practise of 2023?

Releasing a player three years before the contract period gets over with $29.5 left is not a nig deal for the Yankees! Or maybe it is! But one can go back in history. The Yankees had already paid $20 million to the Japanese bust Kei Igawa as he was unable to give significant outcomes. Money over bad deals has been a priority for the Yankees.

If the spring training begins and Aaron Hicks fails to prove himself worthy, he will be sent to the minors. But looking at the dignity Hicks holds, he will probably refuse to accept the minor’s offer, and as a result, he will be paid the amount and get released. So the chances for Aaron Hicks to cut off the deal depends on how he does in the spring practice.

Aaron Hicks Might Get Traded! Or He Will Have A Stand Pat

Trading Hicks with any other is not a bad idea. Yankees already had a history of trades; for example, one can see Kepler, Happ, and Reynolds. However, even for trading, the Yankees will have to cover the remaining amount of the deal.

Meanwhile, the chances that Aaron Hicks will stay on the team are more than the above two. He is still the one player Yankees have invested too much on. The Bronx Bombers have been in a similar situation back with Oswaldo Cabrera. But as he stayed, he proved himself to be worth keeping. So what if Hicks gets the chance and he utilizes it well? What if he just needs another chance? What if Hicks stays and the Yankees win?

Let’s see what the Yankees will decide.
