Pittsburgh Pirates signed outfielder Bryan Reynolds on a three-year deal in 2019. However, this year, the outfielder wants out. He reportedly asked the Pirates for a trade. As soon as the news of Reynolds’ availability came out, the New York Yankees pounced on it and approached Pirates for a trade. However, according to a few reports, the Pirates’ ask has sent the Yanks’ front office into a frenzy, and they are scratching their heads.

Meanwhile, the latest reports have it that the Bryan Reynolds trade could get delayed further as the Yanks are to make up their mind. Obviously, there is no denying the fact that the Yankees are lagging behind a left-field holder, and hence they want Bryan on the team. However, the Pirates’ ridiculous ask has put the Yanks in a fix.

Bryan Reynolds Likely To Stay With The Pirates For The Time Being As The Yankees Are Unsure

Bryan Reynolds stayed adamant at the start of the off-season that he wanted out. However, the Pittsburgh Pirates took the opportunity and put a high price tag on the outfielder. An MLB insider, Jon Heyman, earlier reported that the Pirates are asking three of the top five prospects of the New York Yankees in exchange for one outfielder, Bryan Reynolds. According to the Yankee front office, the ask is highly ridiculous, and they cannot accept the terms under any circumstances. Hence, they asked the Pirates to lower their demands.

However, the Pirates are adamant and refuse to settle. Hence, the trade has been delayed. Now, Buster Olney from ESPN reports that the Pirates are likely to keep Bryan Reynolds for the time being as they believe no club could adhere to their demands before the trade deadline. However, the club does expect that he could get a deal in the summer. Furthermore, Bryan has been in his prime form since last season. Hence, any club would benefit from his presence in the bullpen. Despite everything, the Pirates will have to lower the price tag sooner or later.

Will The Yankees Make The Scarifies To Acquire Bryan?

Undoubtedly, the Pirates’ ask is ridiculous. No team will give their top three prospects to acquire a single player that could fill the left-field hole. Moreover, Brian Cashman and Aaron Boone have time and again asserted that the left-field situation will be dealt with internally. However, Bryan Reynolds is much more than just a left-field option. He scored his career-best 27 home runs in the 2022 season. Hence, the Yankees can consider indulging in the trade by giving up two, if not three, prospects.

Overall, it’s just a mere conjecture. Moreover, Brian Cashman is a man of many hats. You can never guess his next move. We might see a trade between the Pirates and the Yankees in the midseason. However, the New York Yankees bullpen, led by Aaron Judge, looks set and ready for the upcoming spring training.
