Aaron Judge is a renowned name in the world of sports. The forever Yankee debuted in MLB in 2016 with the Bombers. Subsequently, Judge was an instant hit with his insane hitting ability and ended his first season as an AL Rookie of the year. Moreover, last season, Judge broke the all-time record for most home runs in a single season by hitting his 62nd home run.
Hence, eyeing his contribution, the Yankees decided to appoint Aaron Judge as the captain of the Bronx Bombers. The seat was vacant since the legend Derek Jeter’s retirement, and now Judge will be his next successor. Moreover, the slugger signed a nine-year contract with the Yankees this off-season worth around $360 million, the highest offered to a player of his position. Hence, there is a high probability that Judge will exit the sport as a forever Yankee.
Aaron Judge To Add Another Feather to His Cap
Over the years, Aaron Judge has received various honors for his contributions to the field. Last year itself, he earned multiple awards, including his first AL MVP for having a record-breaking season. Now, the skipper is ready to add another feather to his shining cap. New York City Mayor, Eric Adams, confirmed that Judge would soon be conferred with the Key to New York City honor.
The Key to New York City is an honor given to the citizens whose achievements in their respective fields last a larger impact on society. Interestingly, in 2009, the entire Yankees roaster received the honor of winning the championship. Now, Aaron Judge is all set to enter the elite club. The Mayor of New York City announced that the team is working on it, and they will soon communicate with the Yankees for the same. Moreover, he said it would be a historic moment if Aaron accepted the honor.
“We’re communicating with the Yankees organization. If they accept, we would love to give it to Aaron Judge,” said Eric Adams.
Yankee Fans Elated With The News, Congratulates Aaron
As soon as the news about the Key broke out, social media was abuzz. Yankee fans took to Twitter to express their pleasure. The fans swarmed Twitter with loads of congratulatory messages for Aaron Judge. While a user wrote that Judge very well deserved the honor, another fan stated that Aaron should have received the badge a while ago. Moreover, a fan referred to him as the “King of New York”. However, the slugger is yet to react to the news.

The Yankees, on the other hand, have done a fine job this off-season. Apparently, the last-minute intervention from Hal helped in retaining Judge. Along with Aaron Judge, they drafted Carlos Rodon to strengthen the pitching roles. Furthermore, Anthony Rizzo and Tommy Kahnle received an extension contract as well. Hence, the roaster looks strong on paper. Also, the Bomber’s front office is trying hard to acquire Bryan Reynolds from the Pirates to end their left-field blues. However, the deal is unlikely to come through as Bryan is adamant about his remuneration.
