New York Yankees set an aggressive plan in motion for this off-season. The second most valuable franchise certainly did not shy away from spending huge bucks. All this was done to build a strong bullpen worthy enough to contest the World Series championship title that the club has awaited for 13 long years. Despite not putting a foot wrong the entire off-season, the Yanks are left with a huge hole in the left field.

Post Andrew Benintendi’s departure, the Bombers made attempts to acquire a strong left-fielder in the free-agent market. However, none of the talks went successful as the Yanks were unable to make a sign-in. Several rumors floated around throughout the course of the off-season, but nothing really came out of it. Meanwhile, Brian Cashman has now confirmed that Aaron Hicks will fill in the left-field hole.

The New York Yankees general manager, Brian Cashman, opens up to the media ahead of the spring training. Cashman addressed a lot of pressing issues within the roster. The primary one is the absence of a left-fielder. When Benintendi left the Yanks for the Giants, Cashman reckoned the club would find his replacement in the free-agent market. However, they could not find a like-for-like replacement for Andrew.

Later, the Yankees front office confirmed that if they failed to acquire any new face, the club would make adjustments within the roster. Aaron Hicks was the front-runner to grab that post. And now, Cashman has confirmed the same. The GM asserted that Hicks would start for the Yankees in the left field. Brian believes Hicks is talented and a perfect fit for the roster. However, the Yanks still have not closed the doors for trade. Cashman said they have opportunities in the trade window and are ready to bring in a new face even in late February or March.

Pirates Stall The Bryan Reynolds Trade With Ridiculous Demands

When Bryan Reynolds decided to opt out of the Pittsburgh Pirates’ year contract, the Yankees approached the Pirates with a lot of hope. However, the Pirates burst their excitement balloon by putting forth aggressive demands. Pirates reportedly asked for the top three Yankees prospects in exchange for Bryan. The Bombers, understandably, termed the demands ridiculous and asked the Pirates to lower down. However, the Pirates are adamant, and the trade is stalled for the moment.

Meanwhile, the New York Yankees roster looks strongest of all for the 2023 MLB season. They have Aaron Judge leading the bullpen, with Carlos Rodon assisting with the pitching duties. However, they still have a few injury concerns within the camp, but the front office is confident of getting the guys healthy before the opening day.
