The New York Yankees traveled to Chicago this week to feature in a three-game series with the White Sox. After losing out on the opener, the visitors staged a perfect comeback in the second game to level the series 1-1. It all came down to the finale on Wednesday, and with the winning momentum at their helm, the Yanks started as favorites.

However, the pitching staff’s miscues and offensive lackluster collectively led to a 9-2 brutal loss. Luis Severino, despite being guarded by an opener, failed to step up on the mound. Now to make matters worse, a former veteran All-Star infielder suffered from an injury scare that forced him to skip the series finale.

DJ LeMahieu Missed Out On Series Finale Vs. White Sox Due To Injury Scare

DJ LeMahieu, known for his consistent performance and versatility, has been a key player for the New York Yankees over the past few seasons. However, the former three-time All-Star infielder has been out of his element this year. In 96 appearances, he has hit .240 with eight homers, 29 RBIs, and .688 OPS. Since May, his form has gone further downhill, and his approach sent the fans into a frenzy. It seemed as if LeMahieu forgot the basics of baseball hitting. Despite everything, the Yankees kept him in the lineup, considering his veteran status. However, his name was nowhere to be found on the Yanks lineup sheet for Wednesday’s game against White Sox.

Later, an official word came out from the club stating that DJ LeMahieu had been feeling some kind of tightness in his calf. Hence, as a precautionary measure, he was made to sit on the bench. Isiah Kiner-Falefa replaced him at third base, and Oswaldo Cabrera took IKF’s place at shortstop. Having said that, LeMahieu’s current status is still unknown. The Yanks have an off day on Thursday, after which they are scheduled to face the Marlins. If the infielder passes the necessary tests by then, he could be seen in Friday’s lineup. All things considered, things are not looking good for the lowly Yankees. They have already lost first baseman Anthony Rizzo to a concussion. Hence, the team cannot afford to lose another veteran at this crucial stage.

Luis Severino Dooms The Yankees…AGAIN!

New York Yankees starter Luis Severino is looking like a lost and directionless pitcher on the mound. Since the past few outings, his ERA has soared over 10. Despite this, the pitcher got to pitch again, as the club is currently low on starters. Moreover, to take some pressure off the slumping Severino, the Yanks had reliever Ian Hamilton open the game for him. Hamilton set the stage right, and Severino just had to capitalize on it.

However, Luis Severino is in the kind of form where nothing seems to work for him. The pitcher lasted for mere two innings and ended up giving four runs in five hits. It was yet another disastrous outing for the impending free agent, who is set to lose his rotation spot in the near future. Things are getting worse day by day for the Yankees, and it is just a matter of time before the playoff berth gets out of their reach.
