Jasson Dominguez, one of the top prospects in the New York Yankees’ organization, is set to make his debut in the team’s spring training opener against the Phillies.

New York Yankees made a change in approach this season. This year, the Yanks invited as many as 69 non-roster invitees to participate in the spring training practice sessions. The invitees included young minor-league prospects with promising talent. Further, all the non-roster participants were given a chance to take the field in Tampa, Florida.

A 20-year-old outfielder from the Dominican Republic featured among the 69 invitees. Jasson Dominguez has been turning heads since signing with the Yankees as an international free agent in 2019. Despite not having played in a professional game since 2019 due to the cancelation of the minor league season in 2020, Dominguez has continued to impress the Yankees’ coaching staff and front office with his work ethic and raw talent. And it looks like the grinding has paid off.

New York Yankees’ top prospect, Jasson Dominguez, arrived at the club’s base camp in Florida to participate in spring training workout sessions. The prospect was a massive hit last season in the minor league. Jasson hit .273 with a .837 OPS and 37 stolen bases in 120 games last year. Further, the numbers intrigued the management, and hence they called the outfielder for spring training. Now, impressed with Jasson’s performance, the Yankees front office has decided to hand him a crucial opportunity.

As per multiple media reports, Jasson Dominguez will most likely feature in the starting roster of the Yankees for the spring training opening game against Philadelphia Phillies. Further, he is likely to play a few innings in the outfield, giving fans and scouts a glimpse of his potential and talent. While he is unlikely to make the major league debut this season, the Yankees are hoping that he will continue to develop and make progress for any future opportunity.

Talking of the young prospects, how can one forget to mention the Yankees’ top shortstop prospect, Anthony Volpe? Volpe, who joined spring training as the most exciting prospect to look after, showed his true potential in the live batting practice session. Anthony faced Jimmy Cordero, James Norwood, and Ian Hamilton and smashed all over the field.

The New York Yankees will begin the spring training campaign tomorrow against the Phillies. The regular player, as well as a few young prospects, will take the field for the Yanks. Furthermore, the spring training is important for the Bombers as they need to sort out a lot of roster-related pressing issues. For starters, they need to find a left fielder and a starting shortstop for the starting roster, along with a couple of starting pitchers.
