As the 2023 MLB season approaches, fans and analysts are eagerly anticipating the lineups for their favorite teams. But in a surprising turn of events, New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone accidentally revealed his team’s lineup during a press conference, leaving fans excited. On Wednesday, the team faced Washington Nationals at George Steinbrenner Field in Florida. Players like DJ LeMahieu, Giancarlo Stanton, and Anthony Rizzo made the much-anticipated debuts.

The lineup was led by DJ LeMahieu at second base. Moreover, Aaron Judge, Anthony Rizzo, Giancarlo Stanton, Josh Donaldson, and Harrison Bader followed DJ. While Aaron Hicks retained his position at left field, catcher Kyle Higashioka partnered with starting shortstop Isiah Kiner-Falefa. The lineup looked settled, and Yankees skipper Aaron Boone feels this could possibly be the Yankees starting lineup for the opening day. However, Boone added that Gleyber Torres would be added to the mix, and a couple of positions, like left field and starting shortstop, are still up for grabs. Nonetheless, the odds of this being the opening-day lineup are quite high.

During Wednesday’s spring training game, Yankee’s star baseman, DJ LeMahieu, started as a leadoff. Last season, after DJ went down with a toe injury, slugger Aaron Judge took up the position, and it helped him click the historic 62 home runs feat. Moreover, Josh Donaldson also got his hands on the position and failed miserably. However, with LeMahieu back in full health this season, the front office intends to hand him his leadoff position back.

Speaking on the same, Yankees manager, Aaron Boone said he likes seeing DJ LeMahieu in the leadoff spot and is likely to retain his old position. Hence, it is quite clear that we will get to see DJ leading the lineup in the upcoming regular MLB season. On the other hand, the opening day is still close to four weeks away. The New York Yankees have ample amount of time to try out different combinations and figure out the correct lineup.
