Yankees Players Engage In A Bidding War To Claim A Special Painting Of Aaron Judge

The New York Yankees are highly regarded as one of the most successful sporting clubs globally. The $7 billion organization has witnessed some of the greatest moments in the sport of baseball and also scripted a century-long legacy. The team has won as many as 27 World Series titles so far. However, after 2009, the Bronx Bombers witnessed a dry run as they failed to win any title in the past 13 years.

Despite the downfall, the true Yankee fan base has always had the team’s back and never left their side. Be it in good or worse times, the fans have always stayed true to the organization and have always shown immense support. Hence, the Yankees feel they have a sense of responsibility to give it back to society in every way possible. A few years ago, the baseball club launched a non-profitable charity trust dedicated to helping the less privileged sections of society and yearly holds a charity dinner to raise funds.

The New York Yankees acknowledges that as a $7 billion franchise, they remain obliged to give it back to the society who have showered the team with all their love and support. Hence, to fulfill the cause, the club set up a charity trust called the “NYY Foundation.” The objective of the non-profitable trust is to help the underprivileged section of society through various means and channels. Moreover, to raise funds for the same, the organization holds an annual gala dinner wherein the whole Yankees clubhouse, along with their respective families, are invited.

This year, the event took place this week. Most of the players associated with the New York Yankees attended the dinner. During the dinner, a talented painter painted a portrait of Yankees captain Aaron Judge on the spot at the venue. Later, the portrait was put up for auction to raise funds for the charitable trust. The Yankee players, including Gerrit Cole and Nestor Cortes, engaged themselves in a bidding war. However, the third baseman, Josh Donaldson, eventually outbid them all to take the portrait home. He bought the painting for $16K, and all the money will go to the NYY Foundation. Meanwhile, the fans were amused by it and took to Twitter to share their respective thoughts on the same.

Yankees Baseman Josh Donaldson To Begin Rehab Assignment Next Week

Yankees’ third baseman Josh Donaldson is going through a tough time on the professional front. After a strong start to the 2023 season, the baseman suffered from a hamstring injury in the second week of April. The team placed him on a 10-day IL, but the infielder failed to return on the set timeline. Eventually, the team had to extend his IL stint. Josh even played a rehab assignment with Doubl-A but could not clear it.

He is feeling better and looks ready to take the field in a full-fledged match. Moreover, the skipper remains confident that the baseman will pass this assignment with flying colors and will return back to the lineup in time.
