The New York Yankees’ latest addition, Carlos Rodon, had a below-average spring training debut against the Atlanta Braves.

The Bronx Bombers outclassed the Atlanta Braves in the spring training game with a scoreline of 10-6. Jasson Dominguez continued his dominance with hard hits, and the rest of the hitters did a fair job as well. Moreover, the Yankees most hyped addition of the 2023 season, Carlos Rodon, made his much-anticipated debut. However, things did not go well as planned.

   

Carlos Rodon opted out of the two-year deal with the San Francisco Giants and signed with New York Yankees in free agency. The left-hand pitcher agreed on a six-year deal worth $162 million. Ever since the fans have been filled with excitement to witness what the southpaw has in store for the brand-new season. However, to everyone’s disappointment, the most hyped-up debut did not go that well.

The New York Yankees pitcher, Carlos Rodon, made his spring training debut on Sunday against the Atlanta Braves. The 30-year-old stepped on the mound with a lot of hype and unfortunately failed to live up to it. Rodon conceded five earned runs in two innings but managed to get two out. Later, Matt Olson and Austin Riley hit one home run each off Rodon’s pitch. Speaking on the overreaction on his spring training debut, Carlos Rodon said he is unfazed by it as its the part of the process.

The left-hand pitcher said he and his teammates are driven by the desire to win. Hence, he always steps on the mound with a killer stint to compete and contribute to the team’s success. On the other hand, Rodon’s teammate, Kyle Higashioka, offered a piece of advice to Rodon and said the pitcher should not be too hard on himself at an early stage. The goal of the team is to win the World Series title and not the Grapefruit League. While Rodon failed to depict a dream debut, the pitcher still has a long way to go this season.

Despite a poor spring training outing, Carlos Rodon is receiving all the love from New York. Rodon. The fans took to Twitter to express their excitement and showed immense support for the left-hand pitcher. This marks a rare case when the ruthless Yankee fan base shows love to a player despite poor performances. Nonetheless, Rodon showed to enjoy the support till it lasts.

Meanwhile, Carlos Rodon will carry high expectations on his shoulders this season. He is likely to start second behind Gerrit Cole on the starting rotation. Moreover, the pitcher will have to live up to the hype created during his sign-in. His strong arm is something that has been highly ranked. However, Carlos’ primary goal should be to maintain his health, considering his concerning injury history.
