Why Have The New York Yankees Not Yet Decided On Their Left Infield Position? Still Considering Bryan Reynolds

The New York Yankees, with their high-paying athletes, have become one of the high-paying teams in the MLB. Money has never been a problem for one of the biggest sports franchises in the world. But the team has to abide by the rules that MLB makes for the teams who try to steal players because of their high-paying capacity. Even after such high-paid bullpen construction, the Bombers do not have a confirmed left-field player. After the departure of the Yankees’ former left field player, Andrew Benintendi, the team is left with Aaron Hicks, Oswaldo Cabrera, and Estevan Florial.

Apart from the cash flow, the Yankees do not have any good options in the market to pick the players. The left fielders that they hold have are far better than what the market has to offer at this point. Many minor-league players in the Bronx Zoo could make their way to the main roster. Players like Willie Calhoun and Rafael Ortega will have an equal shot in spring training for the left fielder spot. But Yankees being Yankees, will also have all the options open in case something works out.

The Yankees Have Not Given Up Their Hope On Bryan Reynolds

Meanwhile, the forever interest of the Bombers’ Bryan Reynolds is still considered a viable option. The outfielder has announced his wish to leave the Pittsburgh Pirates. However, his contract does not let him decide his choice of the team on his own. The All-star is bound with the contract, which says the Pirates have three more seasons with him. And to free Reynolds, the Pirates expressed a high amount which even the Yankees could not produce. Although the Bombers have in-house players for the left infield, they would not want to risk it like the last year.

In his last interview, Brian Cashman told everyone that he is still out there looking to fill the left infield position. The general manager is ready to wait until march before resting all his options. And in case they dont find the best guy Cashman predicted which in-house player will open the season. Cashman believes that it will be Aaron Hicks for them who will own the spot after spring break.

But the only problem that tags along with Hicks are his inconsistency due to his injuries over the past years. And in order to avoid such setbacks in the middle of the season, the Hicks and Reynolds could be exchanged. Meanwhile, the rumors suggest that Cashman has no intention of selling Anthony Volpe and Oswald Peraza.
