Lewis Hamilton and Toto Wolff both joined Mercedes in 2013. That’s when the epic collaboration between the team principal and star driver began. Since then, Mercedes has become a powerhouse of the F1 grid. It is because from 2014 to 2021, Mercedes did not let any other team take the constructor’s title away from them. Toto Wolff became the winner of back-to-back eight constructor titles. However, there is a teeny tiny possibility that Hamilton might not win his eighth title.

Especially if he stays with Mercedes when they are struggling to fix the car since last year. Moreover, his contract is ending after the current season. But they have not yet renewed the contract. For a long time, it has been a hot topic of discussion in the media. But every time, both Wolff and Hamilton responded with an optimistic view. Recently, Toto Wolff shared a new light on this topic of discussion.

The Mercedes boss mentioned that the contract negotiations have taken a steady step in the right direction regarding the duration and financial terms. Hence, it is no longer stuck in its fundamental aspects. However, Toto Wolff was reluctant to commit to a date or any other developments in terms of the contract negotiations. Albeit, Toto Wolff did say in Belgium that it is no longer about material things. However, Mercedes’ boss urged the media to give them some time to come to a conclusion. Hence, there is no confirmation about a date yet. But it is moving slowly in the right direction, according to Mercedes boss Toto Wolff. Undoubtedly, the collaboration between Toto Wolff and Lewis Hamilton after joining the Mercedes team has been an epic partnership.

It helped Hamilton become one of the greatest racers ever. Certainly, he is the most successful driver in F1 history. However, since 2022 Mercedes has lost their grip on the title due to their poor car. They are finding it hard to beat their rivals, Red Bull, who have been enjoying their hegemony since last year. Moreover, Red Bull’s Max Verstappen won the Driver’s World Championship in 2021, narrowly beating the seven-time champion. Lewis Hamilton was so close to becoming the first eight-time champion in F1 Motorsport history. But the new current double-time champion stole that chance away from him. Moreover, Hamilton is 38 and at the twilight of his career.

But the constant factor in these eight seasons for Wolff and Mercedes has been Lewis Hamilton. He won six driver’s world champions from 2014 to 2020. He added these titles to his 2008 Driver’s Championship for McLaren. Hence, the great British driver became the second F1 racer to win seven Driver’s World Championships.

He equaled the great Michael Schumacher, winning seven titles. Moreover, driving the Mercedes car all these years helped Lewis Hamilton win the most races in F1 history, along with most pole positions. The seven-time champion of the Mercedes team also has the most podium finishes under his belt.
