Team Mercedes has been waiting for a race win throughout the 2023 F1 season. But in eight races so far, their rivals Red Bull have come out victorious in all of them. But looks like the Silver Arrows are not going to give up without fighting back. It is funny how things turn upside down all of a sudden for such a giant. Mercedes was the dominant F1 team even two years ago. They won eight constructors titles from 2014 to 2021.

That’s how the last decade has been for Mercedes. However, in 2023, they are shockingly winless. Not only that, the Brackley team’s star driver Lewis Hamilton has been winless for one and a half seasons. Last season the team won only one race in Brazil, that too with George Russell. Clearly, it is a very upsetting time for Hamilton and Mercedes fans all over the world. However, the former champions are gradually progressing with their car’s aerodynamics. Even Mercedes technical director feels that they can beat Red Bull to get back to the top position after a couple of years.

Mercedes had their best time so far in Spain this year as they secured their first double-podium. Lewis Hamilton finished at P2 and George Russell at P3 in Barcelona. But in the Canadian Grand Prix, only Hamilton got to a podium with a P3 finish. Apparently, it was a success for Mercedes because they did not expect the car to do well in the streets of Montreal. Last year in Canada, the Brackley-based team’s engine broke down. Since last year, the Silver Arrows are not having a great time on the grid. But it can change with a couple more upgrades.

Mercedes boss Toto Wolff suggested that they will introduce two more upgrades in the next four Grands Prix. The first one is in the British Grand Prix, and another one is in Austria, most probably as it is one of the other three races before the summer break. Moreover, the technical director of Mercedes, James Allison, is confident of his team coming back strong this season or the next. According to Allison, the rival Red Bull does not have a God-given right to be at the top, but they are due to merit. Red Bull has done an incredible job with their RB19 car, which is clearly the fastest car on the grid at present.

Red Bull’s chief technical officer, Adrian Newey, deserves a lot of credit for their success. In the Canadian Grand Prix, Newey achieved his 200th race win with a car that he designed. But Mercedes’s technical director Allison feels that it is exciting to know that they can turn things around. Only if they are able to do as good or perhaps a better job than their rivals.

Moreover, Allison is also thrilled to fight back and increase the chance of toppling the current table toppers. On top of that, the idea of improving the car every week gives James Allison a lot of satisfaction. Additionally, Mercedes’ technical officer believes that the idea of getting back to the top is so exhilarating once they frame it. Moreover, the whole team is doing their best to make it a reality.
