Russell Westbrook Is Satisfied With His Sixth-Man Position! Proud Of Making Others Around Him Better!

After beating the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday Night, the Lakers recorded their third consecutive ad fifth overall victory of the season. Anthony Davis has been the star of the star with 37 points. But no one can overlook the impact Russell Westbrook has had on the team in the past few games for the Lakers. Russ seemed out of touch for most of the 2021 season and even in this year\’s pre-season games.

However, ever since Darvin Ham made Westbrook the sixth man for the Lakers, he has had a fantastic turnaround. Not only Russell\’s individual performance has also improved. But he is also helping to bring out the best in other Lakers\’ players. Meanwhile, the point guard has recently stated that he is proud of what he\’s been doing.

After defeating the Spurs by 31 points, the Lakers have now won three games in a row. Anthony Davis\’ strong effort was the highlight of the victory. Additionally, the Lakers\’ offense didn\’t suffer while the second team was on the court. Due to Russell Westbrook\’s veteran playmaking presence coming off the bench and his 45 assists over the last four games, that hasn\’t been the case in any of the Lakers\’ recent victories.

Meanwhile, Russell recently discussed leading the Lakers\’ second unit, a position he had initially intended to avoid. However, he\’s now relishing it. It doesn\’t matter what kind of unit it is, according to Westbrook. Russ is aware of how he can improve the guys in his immediate vicinity. And that is precisely what he has been doing for a very long time in this league. To the best of his abilities, he wants to keep doing it. In the long term, Westbrook feels the Lakers will benefit from it.

The Lakers\’ expectations of getting out of their 2-10 slump were disrupted when Westbrook gave up his starting position for the squad. Westbrook has demonstrated why the Lakers must keep him with his play and significant effect on their second unit. The ideal situation would not involve paying someone $47 million to manage your second unit. Westbrook is performing admirably in his current capacity, but his pay isn\’t commensurate with it. Perhaps he can agree to a contract that more appropriately ties his pay to his position.

LA\’s potential for this season may increase if they can find numerous players who can produce at a level close to that. Although it will be a difficult decision, the Lakers will probably keep Westbrook on the club this year in the hopes that their improved play would help them advance further in the playoffs. The Lakers will be able to reconfigure the roster next summer because they will have cap room and control over future draft selections.
