“Red Bull is Sensitive To Criticism,” Claims David Coulthard, Sky Media’s Boycott Is The Proof

Red Bull

There’s a saying, With great power comes great responsibility. In Formula One, let’s say, With great power comes great criticism. Probably, team Red Bull fits perfectly in relevance to the above statement. As of now, Red Bull is the most powerful team in F1, and along with huge appreciation, they get the same criticism too. Whether it is about the 2021 Max Verstappen’s last-moment victory or this year’s Cost cap saga, or the disputes between the drivers, the racing team remained in controversies throughout the entire year. With this, another one comes in as one of the ex-formula one champions, David Coulthard, came out to claim that Red Bull is “Sensitive to any criticism.”

David’s claim apparently came after seeing how the Milton Keynes-based team snubbed the Sky Sports broadcaster during the Mexican Grand Prix. Max Verstappen refused to speak with teh Sky reporters as he found one of the reports to be disrespectful. Actually, Ted Kravitz, the pitlane reporter of Sky media, once said that Lewis Hamilton had been robbed of his eighth title, which indirectly went to Max Verstappen being the robber. As a result, Max and the entire Red Bull team denied giving an interview to any of the Sky members.

Red Bull Only Expects Nice Things From Everyone!

However, not only the Sky Media boycott, Red Bull team principal Christian Horner once also suggested that the team is also chosen to criticize every time because it’s a “cheap target”. Horner said this after hearing the thousands of negative comments for Red Bull in the cost cap scandal. As a matter of fact, or irony Horner was expecting fellow rivals to support Max Verstappen’s team in the cost cap allegations. And what he got was criticism, criticism, and criticism.

But to each critic, Red Bull had a reply; they took several required steps to prevent it like when Mercedes boss Toto Wolff was speaking negatively about the rival, Horner came out to call it a defamation case. He threatened everyone who was speaking against the team in the cost cap breach matter during the Singapore Grand Prix.

Formula One Has Different Opinions, Teams Should Not Have A Blinkered View

Meanwhile, the ex-Red Bull driver, David Coulthard, believes that the team behaves very sensitively to personal comments and criticism. In an interview with Mirror Sport, he gave the example of Ferrari saying how much stick they would get in Italy every single day. He said, “You will have to walk a mile in their shoes to know what they go through. Mark Webber used to say this.”

So yes, Christian Horner goes sensitive to any criticism because it may be personal, claimed David. He suggested that teh Media have the right to interpret teh scenario and events based on their point of view. Opinion changes when you see things from different perspectives. David stated, “From teh point of view of a driver in F1, there is a lot of things which will have my opinion while other don’t. However, it never means that those opinions do not value.”

According to David Coulthard, Red Bull should not only expect nice things, as anyone can have a different opinion. “If one [special focus on Red Bull] only ever sees things from people who agree with you or say only nice things about you. Then that’s a very blinkered view of life.” said the former Red Bull Driver.
