Sergio Perez

Sergio Perez is having a magnificent second stint for Red Bull during the 2022 championship. The Mexican driver recently won the Monaco Grand Prix for the first time in his career. Although Ferrari\’s Charles Leclerc acquired the pole position on Saturday. The Scuderia looked to be in control for a win in Monaco. However, Checo seemed to be doing very well since the beginning of Friday practice.

The 32-year-old consistently challenged Leclerc in terms of the fastest lap across the Monte Carlo circuit and secured a third position in the qualifying. Charles had the early lead, but a glitch in the Ferrari pit cost the Monegasque his pole position on a street circuit, which is not known for overtaking. Sergio Perez clinched the opportunity to take the lead while Leclerc took two quick pit stops and fell to the fourth position, which he could never recover from.

Sergio has shown that he is no less than Max Verstappen. He is completely capable of leading the way for Red Bull even though he is comfortable in his current supporting role too. And now, the Red Bull has rewarded Perez for his magnificent run in Monaco with a two-year contract extension. His contract was supposed to end in 2022, and there had been speculations that Perez might retire after his contract ended. However, with the extension coming, Sergio will be a part of Formula One until 2024.
