Formula One is a game that is very intense on the race and holds similar intensity out of the race tracks. It is a sport that brings huge car companies and their CEO directly in touch with the people on the track. The motorsport also brings the CEO of Formula One and the racers in touch, which has led to some hard conversations in recent times. With the increase in the popularity of Formula One, there also comes the burden of evolving the race. And with people losing their attention, it is highly difficult to keep every sport engaging.

F1 races go on for hours and hours, with 3 days of action on the weekends. Therefore there is pressure on the rule makers to make the sport more enjoyable and more watchable. That is why FIA is trying to bring more changes in motorsport every now and then to make the racing weekends more happening. But this would also mean more pressure on the racers to shift more of their time to the competitions. This would turn out well for the spectators, it will be a huge challenge for the drivers to accommodate their routines. And currently, one of the most important drivers on the grid, Max Verstappen, is threatening to quit the motorsport citing these changes.

Formula One introduced Sprint racing within the competition in 2021 to increase the anticipation from the spectators. For two years, three sprint races took place every season to bring in new fun. And now, in 2023, FIA is set to increase the number of sprint races to six for the current season, starting from Azerbaijan. However, the drivers have no interest in adding things to their already messed up routine during the weekend. Many drivers have come up and spoken about the subject very openly. Max Verstappen, the current champion, is one among many speakers on the issue. However, it looks like the people high above are not a fan of his tone in the interviews.

Max is two time Formula One champion that makes his remarks on the changes in essential words in public. Moreover, while putting his views forward, he also threw a banter that would have made FIA a little uncomfortable. “I hope there won’t be too many changes. Otherwise, I won’t be around for too long,” said Verstappen. It was considered a hectic warning for all the bosses who were running the show. But Ralf Schumacher, brother of legend Michael Schumacher has made it clear to Max that the changes are inevitable. It looks like the sport could soon turn into a cold war between the bosses and racers.

There is no doubt that the historical sport will only aim for higher altitudes in the upcoming years. And Ralf believes that it is not an individual sport that will not continue without Max in the picture. “Bernie Ecclestone is also gone, and without him, Formula 1 wouldn’t exist – and now it’s more successful than ever,” said Schumacher. So, he thinks that either the champion could continue to do so what he does best or he could leave. Either way, the sport will continue to rise, and changes will take place.
