Carlos Rodon, a dynamic left-handed pitcher, signed a mega deal with the New York Yankees ahead of the 2023 MLB season. Despite a strong season with the White Sox, he ditched them last minute to secure a contract in the Bronx. Moreover, Rodon was rewarded handsomely for his gamble as he secured a six-year $162 million contract with the Yanks.

However, Carlos Rodon‘s debut season in the Bronx has been nothing but a disaster. He had to miss months on the injury list due to multiple setbacks. Even once he returned in July, the pitcher’s performance has been completely opposite to his resume. To make matters worse, the southpaw endured yet another injury that has kept him out for the past two weeks.

New York Yankees’ mega off-season signing, Carlos Rodon, has been an absolute disaster so far. In an injury-ridden debut season, the pitcher has set up a record of 1-4 with a 7.33 ERA in six starts. If this wasn’t enough, another injury setback played spoilsport. A couple of weeks ago, Rodon aborted his start against the Houston Astros due to hamstring tightness. Subsequently, he was diagnosed with a low-grade hamstring strain and put on 15-day IL. Having said that, Rodon’s injury didn’t look that bad, as he never really stopped throwing activities. Moreover, last week, he traveled to the Yanks training facility in Tampa to pitch in simulated games.

Carlos Rodon is scheduled to get activated on Tuesday as per his injury timeline. While we await official confirmation of the same, the Yankees have revealed the list of probable starters for the upcoming home series against the Washington Nationals. Rodon features in the list and could return back to the mound on Tuesday. In the meantime, the club has already made space for the starter by optioning relief pitcher Greg Weissert back to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. All signs point in the same direction. But the question is, will Rodon’s return bring any relief to Bronx Bombers’ pitching woes? His form suggests otherwise, and returning after an injury is never easy. Well, the fans and Yankees will certainly hope to witness a complete turnaround from Carlos Rodon in the last stretch of the 2023 season.

MLB Tool Predicted Yankees Incoming Downfall!

While New York Yankees’ collapse came as a shock to many, MLB apparently predicted it way before. As per the Pythagorean winning percentage formula, the Yanks are exactly where they were supposed to be. The formula predicted that the Bombers would have a 59-65 win-loss record by the end of 124 games, whereas the Yanks are currently seated at 60-64.

The formula apparently derived its conclusion by taking the Yankees’ inconsistent offensive production into consideration. Apart from this, the FanGraphs predictor has already pushed the team away from World Series contention, with playoff odds lowered to 0.5%. The Bombers undoubtedly have their back against the wall currently. Can they come out of this to produce a miracle? Or should the focus shift to the next year already? Only time will tell.
