MLB Analyst David Cone Issues Final Verdict On Yankees’ Current Roster Ahead Of Spring Training

New York Yankees are all set with a stable roster post an aggressive off-season. After spending millions of dollars, the Yanks finally stand in a position to contest for the World Series title. Importantly, the Bombers need to edge past the Houston Astros to turn the dream into reality. FYI, Astros handed a humiliating defeat to the Yanks in the ALCS and eventually claimed the World Series title. However, the Yanks are focused on turning things around this season.

Meanwhile, the New York Yankees hosted a pinstripe pride parade wherein the club’s former mates gathered around to sign autographs. YES News broadcaster David Cone, too, attended the event and gave his analysis on the Yankees’ present roster. Cone feels the Bombers’ current roster is lagging and not enough to contest the World Series title.

News broadcaster, David Cone, has a piece of advice for the New York Yankees front office led by Brian Cashman. Davis believes the Yanks’ current roster looks incomplete. Hence, he wants the Bombers’ front office to make a trade or two ahead of the deadline. Cone feels a couple of new faces could change the entire picture of the roster. Moreover, Davis affirmed Brian Cashman is not done yet, and we might get to see a few trades before the timeline closes.

Furthermore, David Cone weighed a lot o faith in Carlos Rodon. He said Rodon is one of a kind, as you do not see a lot of powerful left-hand pitchers in the modern-day circuit. Further, Cone did raise concerns about a decline in Rodon’s performance in the long haul, which can be taken care of by the pitching coach. Lastly, David Cone expressed his excitement to witness the Yankees’ young brigade in action. He wants to see if the young blood, such as Anthony Volpe and Oswald Peraza, are ready for the major league or not.

“I don’t think Cash’s (Brian Cashman) done yet,” said David Cone.

What To Expect From Spring Training?

Yankees

The 2023 MLB season spring training will begin in the next two weeks. Speaking of the New York Yankees, the pitchers and catchers will report at Tampa Base on February 15, whereas the remaining roster will appear later. For the Yankees, spring training is very crucial. The club has a lot of pressing issues knocking at the doorstep. Hence, spring training might help in bringing a solution.

Firstly, the Bronx Bombers need to fix an outfielder for the left-field job. Aaron Hicks, Estevan Florial, and Oswaldo Cabrera will audition for the role. Moving on, we have the starting shortstop issue. Young prospects Anthony Volpe, Oswald Peraza, and Isiah Kiner-Falefa are the shortstop candidates for the job. Lastly, the Yankees will have to hold a consensus on a fifth starter in the pitching rotation. Clarke Schmidt and Domingo German are likely to contest the spot.
