Mercedes on Podium in Qulai
Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen and George Russell

The German manufacturer finally got a reason to smile! George Russell’s P2 and Lewis Hamilton’s P3 allowed them to start the Australian Grand Prix from the front of the grid. Is this the beginning of the good times in Mercedes? Will Melbourne bring the first win of the season to the Silver Arrows?

The seven-time world champion will start the Weekend race from third position, just behind his teammate. Both the Mercedes drivers, instead of beating each other, focused on claiming the first win for Mercedes. They started the season on the back foot. In Bahrain and the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, Mercedes could only attain a P7-P5, and P4, and P5, respectively, which is not something anyone in the Mercedes fandom expected. With Red Bull’s consecutive one-two win, everyone started predicting that history is going to repeat itself once again. But do you think that the outcomes of just two initial races can decide who the world championship winner will be?

Nevertheless, Mercedes brought little upgrades ahead of the Australian Grand Prix, as they promised: a change. And somehow, the promise seems to get fulfilled. The W14 started to culminate the pace as they ended the qualifying session at the Albert Park Circuit stunningly.

The 25-year-old Mercedes driver will start tomorrow just one position behind Max Verstappen. Remember what happened last year in Brazil? George Russell won a race. His first-ever f1 race, with the very weak W13 beating the world champion, Max Verstappen. Something like that might happen in Australia tomorrow. Russell is indeed capable of doing that once again. And given the P20 start of Red Bull’s second driver Sergio Perez, the sky seems clearer for Mercedes to fly on Sunday.

Lewis Hamilton Hopes For A good Race In Australia With The P2-3 Mercedes Start

Team Red Bull is the strongest team on the grid. And Mercedes has admitted that they are unwilling to battle with them at the moment; now the focus is to beat Aston Martin and Ferrari. But just the fact that Sergio Perez faced braking issues with the RB19 that ended up crashing the car into several damages somehow gives confidence to Mercedes.

Meanwhile, listening to what Lewis Hamilton says after finishing the qualifying today on a good note, is really satisfying for fans. To Sky Sports, the seven-time world champion said, “This was unexpected,” being proud of his team once again. Hamilton praised Russell’s extraordinary performance and claimed that securing a position on the front row is “honestly a dream for Mercedes.”

The seven-time world champion has assured fans that the Brackley squad is working as hard as possible in order to get right back up to the front. At least get close to Red Bull which is doing incredible. Hoping for good weather, Hamilton is ready to give a run for the money.

On the other hand, fans must know that the Mercedes superstar did not forget about his ultimate goal: to become an eight-time world champion. Tomorrow with cheerful lights, hopes, and prayers, Hamilton has promised to give his best. He, indeed, is super grateful for the position he got today. And let’s hope he remains grateful by claiming a good position tomorrow too.
