How The Lakers-Nets Trade For Kyrie Irving Will Look Like? Will Austin Reaves Get Traded?

Brooklyn Nets star point guard, Kyrie Irving, shook the Nets world earlier today. Irving reportedly asked the Nets to trade him before the February 9 deadline, or else he will move to free agency next season. Kyrie\’s move caught the Net off guard as they did not expect Kyrie Irving to throw such an ultimatum that, too, five days before the deadline.

Earlier, Kyrie Irving expressed his desire to sign an extension contract with the Brooklyn Nets ahead of the next season. However, when a deal was put to the table, the point guard bluntly refused to sign and turned the offer down. Meanwhile, multiple teams have shown potential interest in the trade. Furthermore, the Los Angeles Lakers are amongst the front runners. The club is reportedly preparing an offer for the Brooklyn Nets.

So far, Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks have shown interest in the trade. Speaking of the Lakers, they badly need a fresh face in the lineup to uplift and improve the team\’s situation in the points table. Moreover, the LeBron James-Kyrie Irving duo produced wonders for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Hence, a possible reunion could help the Lakers in the long run. Overall, the purple and gold are likely to press hard for the trade.

The Lakers are exploring options for the Kyrie Irving trade exchange. Certainly, a player of Irving\’s stature is not coming in cheap. Hence, the club will have to put key players on the ship to the Nets. Russell Westbrook is an option. However, a single player is not going to satisfy the Nets. They will ask for an add-on from first-round picks, which included Austin Reaves and Max Christie. However, the Lakers are unwilling to swap Austin as the shooting guard is young and the future of the Lakers. Austin is averaging 10.8 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 2.2 assists this season. Hence, Austin looks off-limits for now.

Russell Westbrook & Patrick Beverley

Apart from Russell Westbrook, Patrick Beverley, and Lonnie Walker IV are the other two options the Lakers are exploring to swap in exchange of Kyrie Irving. Patrick has dominated the trade rumors this season and has been linked to multiple teams. The Lakers are unhappy with the point guard\’s performance this season and are looking for options to send him away. Hence, Beverley could lead the trade package for Kyrie Irving.

Lonnie Walkers struggled with injury this season and recently made his comeback. However, despite an average season, the Lakers are considering adding Walker to the trade deal. Lonnie arrived in the Lakers last off-season and did not have enough game time. It seems the Lakers are desperate to welcome Kyrie Irving and will go to any lengths to bring the point guard on board. Brace yourself for five days of pure entertainment.
