FIA’s Decision To Change The F1 Rules For The 2023 Season Will Drastically Affect Mercedes & Red Bull

Once again, the set new rules are going to haunt team Mercedes and other F1 teams, including Red Bull. F1 is launching four such rules that can affect the team’s performance in the 2023 season. The new rules implemented in 2022 took Lewis Hamilton’s stunning 15 streaks; what will it take this time? Will Mercedes suffer again? Or this time, they will be ready to adopt those changes as a result of the disastrous 2022 lessons.

FIA has announced a series of changes for the 2023 F1 world championship, including upgrades in grid penalty and technical regulations with a set of new concepts that will be implemented in a few days. It will indeed be difficult for Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen as the pair was heading for some real battles.

Following Are The New Rules That FIA Is Implementing Ahead of The 2023 F1 Season

Nevertheless, the new rules of F1 Back of the grid penalties reds, “The classified drivers accruing more than 15 cumulative grid position penalties or the drivers who have been penalized for starting to at the Back of the grid, will be starting the race behind any other classified driver.” Also, the driver’s relative position will be determined according to the results of the qualifying classifications.

However, fans, the rule mentioned above will mostly affect no one but Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen as the pair have a relevant history. This year in the F1 Italian Grand Prix, Max and Lewis made nine drivers penalized. As a result, a massacre kind of thing was developed in the paddocks. It made several drivers furious.

One of them was Pierre Gasly, who used Social media to share the issue that the 15-place grid penalty would automatically take them into the Back-of-the Grid. Now that the regulations have been changed so things will get sorted with Gasly next and, of course, for everyone who faced problems this year.

Technical Rules Along With Sprint Races Will Be Changed

Technical changes also take place for the next F1 season. The height of ride races was raised by 15 mm in 2023. It will definitely be a challenge for Mercedes because the Silver Arrows have no experience with such height rides. And the minimum weight of the car has dropped to 796 kg from 798kg. The 2kg difference is not a big deal, though; it is a change that needs to be accepted. Otherwise, penalties are already a slap to the teams.

The third change will include the design of the tyre in qualifying races. FIA has strictly said that all the teams will have to put had tyres in Q1. However, Q2 and Q3 are supposed to ride in mediums. This will help FIA to evaluate the impact of the reduction in tyre allocation on the track running. As a result, a futuristic idea of sustainable use of tyres will be gained.
