There is no doubt that Lewis Hamilton can possibly win another title if he stays in Formula One for a few more years. He is 38, the second oldest driver on the grid after Fernando Alonso, 41. But both old horses are doing pretty well in the current season so far. The Spaniard is in third place, and the Briton is right below Alonso in 4th place in the drivers’ championship. They have equal chances to be a threat to the Red Bull drivers if they cut the old horses some slack. But Red Bull, with their RB19 car, looks unbeatable.

It will be a moment of truth for the Mercedes team to see how the new upgrades to W14 work. Even Lewis Hamilton would want to know if new modifications could help him win the championship. Perhaps it is already too late, as Max Verstappen has taken a huge lead over Hamilton. Moreover, the seven-time champion is a mammoth 75 points behind the current reigning champion. Clearly, it will take a herculean effort to bounce back. But the oldest driver on the grid believes that Lewis Hamilton can still do it.

The two-time winner in 2005 and 2006, Fernando Alonso, gave an interview with the PA News Agency. And he mentioned, “Lewis Hamilton can win 8th title if not this year. Then perhaps next year. But he will win for sure.” Adding to that, Alonso said that nobody needs to teach Hamilton how to drive or win races. Alonso pointed out Hamilton’s consistent performances with four, five, and another four finishes. Moreover, he had a P2 finish in Melbourne, Australia. The former McLaren teammate said Lewis Hamilton is working pretty well on a poor car.

But Mercedes is a powerhouse. If they can provide Lewis Hamilton with a championship-winning car, then it is definitely possible to clinch the coveted eighth title. However, Fernando Alonso says the arch-rival of Lewis Hamilton is just 25 years old. Moreover, at such a young age, he has already achieved so much. Max Verstappen has an excellent chance to break Hamilton’s record of 103 wins and seven championships, along with the legend Michael Schumacher.

Moreover, the Milton Keynes team has won all the races so far, and it does not look like going to change for the remaining races this year either. Max Verstappen has won four, and Sergio Perez has won a couple so far. Moreover, the reigning double-time champion Max Verstappen has won 39 races already. If he wins another next weekend, he will get very close to Ayrton Senna’s 41.

On the other hand, Lewis Hamilton is on a 30-race losing streak as he will race in the Spanish Grand Prix on Sunday. Moreover, Fernando Alonso mentioned that until 2026 with changes in regulation happening, Max will win many more. But Lewis Hamilton does not have so much time left in his F1 career. Moreover, he is at the twilight of his career. Hence, Mercedes will have to provide him with a championship-winning car as soon as possible.
