New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge remains one of the most potent players in Major League Baseball. His meteoric rise since his debut in 2017 has been second to none. In 2022, he recorded the league’s finest offense numbers and scripted multiple records, including the long-withstanding home run record. Moreover, Judge also took home the prestigious MVP award. Apart from the bat, the outfielder was also impressive in the field.

Aaron Judge, the regular right fielder, spent most of his time at the center field last season due to player unavailability. The team lacked a designated center fielder until post-season when they acquired Harrison Bader in a trade deal. Judge did a fair job in the center, with many lauding his defensive play skills. However, this season, he again looked after center field in the absence of an injured Bader. While he has been making good plays, a recent statement by an MLB analyst has irked the fans who now question Judge’s outfield skills.

Aaron Judge has been distributing his time in the center and the right field this season. Harrison Bader’s oblique injury prompted Judge to fill the vacated space. That being said, the New York Yankees’ star slugger has done a fair job. He recently took a spectacular diving catch to rob Shohei Ohtani of a home run. Lauding the play, MLB insider Jon Heyman posted a Tweet which caused a massive uproar on social media. Jon referred to Judge as the best center fielder in baseball currently and challenged the mass to prove him wrong.

Well, the fans just did that. People started flooding the comment section of the Tweet to show Jon the mirror. A fan said that Aaron Judge is now even close to being a proper center fielder, let alone being the best in the league. The majority of the fan sees him as a regular right-fielder and question his center-field skills. Overall, the debate seemed pointless as Jon appears to have written it just in the heat of the moment. One shouldn’t disregard Judge’s plays at the center, as he has gone out of his way to fill the spot amid injury chaos and has done more than a fair job.

Judge Robs Ohtani’s Home Run, Praises Him Later

Aaron Judge stole the show with his defensive play during the second game against the Los Angeles Angels. In the very first inning, Shohei Ohtani launched a gigantic hit off Jordan Montgomery, which seemingly looked like a homer. However, Judge, stationed at center field, leaped for a catch and clubbed it safely, denying Ohtani and Angels a valuable run. Fans and analysts alike loved the play and cheered the slugger for the same.

Meanwhile, Aaron Judge praised Shohei Ohtani and called him an incredible player. He acknowledged that Ohtani is an impressive talent, and it’s exciting to watch what he brings on the field from the sidelines. While he wished him well for the upcoming free agency, the slugger refused to comment on whether the Yankees would target him.
