The stakes have never been higher for the New York Yankees as they embark on the 2024 season journey. The lost 82-80 record season has put intense pressure on the players with high expectations to live up to the hype. One of the many players under the radar is starting pitcher Carlos Rodon.

Carlos Rodon signed a mega six-year deal with a lot of hope last off-season. However, the dreams and expectations were shattered just two weeks into spring training. Rodon picked up an injury which worsened and led to a long layoff. Regardless, ahead of the new season, MLB podcasters weigh on the impact Rodon’s performance will have on the Yankee’s championship dreams.

When Carlos Rodon signed a six-year $162 million contract with the Yankees last season, he seemed pumped to don the pinstripes. He promised to give his absolute best on the mound to relish championship dreams. However, all hell broke loose when the pitcher picked up a forearm strain in the second week of spring training. Moreover, just when the forearm injury began to heal, Rodon’s chronic back pain relapsed, leading to an extended delay in debut. Eventually, Carlos Rodon debuted in pinstripes in July. But returned to IL again with a hamstring injury. Things have never been the same since then, as the pitcher struggled physically as well as mentally. By the end of the season, Carlos Rodon’s ERA soared above 6.

Moreover, his ugly act of disrespect towards pitching coach Matt Blake further added to his woeful season. Regardless, the pitcher is geared up to make a difference in 2024. He has apparently reported to Tampa early and appeared in a relatively leaner shape. Having said that, Talkin Yanks podcasters Jomboy and Jake discussed the significance of Rodon’s impact on the team’s 2024 season camping. Both Jomboy and Jake agreed the pitcher should pitch more innings to have a decent, successful season. Besides, Jake reckoned that Rodon could be the difference maker in Yanks World Series dreams in the future. He has the ability to leave a meaningful impact on the mound. And when healthy, Rodon can outclass any dominant hitter on a given day. While Jake’s assessment seems far-fetched, the Bombers wouldn’t mind even half of a decent season from Rodon.

Yankees general manager Brian Cashman has reviewed Carlos Rodon’s off-season assessment. And the GM looks pleased, per se. In an interview, Cashman expressed how the pitcher has been in great shape. His off-season conditioning remains on the right track. Thus, Cashman firmly expects Rodon to have a far better season in 2024.

Meanwhile, the images coming from Tampa suggest Carlos Rodon has gone lean. He is working towards keeping his body in sturdy condition to avert injury risks this year. Moreover, the pitcher has reported early for spring training. That suggests his unwavering commitment towards producing better season for the New York Yankees.
