Lando Norris says Mercedes’ struggles this year are ‘nice to see’

Sir Lewis Hamilton has achieved humongous success in Formula One. There is nobody who has won more races or more titles than the seven-time champion. He is currently the joint most successful driver’s title winner with Michael Schumacher. The 38-year-old racer had the best phase of his career with Mercedes, and he is still with the Brackley team. But his journey started with the McLaren team. Back in 2008, Lewis Hamilton won his first driver’s world championship. He won the 2008 championship with McLaren.

However, when he left McLaren for Mercedes, Hamilton embarked on a journey to create history. But after all the glorious days with Mercedes, it seems like things are coming to an end. As the old saying goes like, something along the lines of “Every good thing comes to an end after a certain point of time.” It sure looks exactly like that, as Lewis Hamilton might be hoping to return to his roots, the McLaren team, where it all started. Since the last year, Mercedes has not figured out a way to build the perfect car for Hamilton to help him win his eighth title.

Hamilton is getting older and losing precious time to accomplish his dream of winning the eighth title. But age is just a number as Fernando Alonso, former Hamilton’s McLaren teammate, currently driving for Aston Martin, is still proving that. However, the question remains, will Lewis Hamilton move back to McLaren? The seven-time champion recently expressed his wish to see his former team return to the top with their technical team’s recent restructure. Lewis Hamilton mentioned, “McLaren’s my old home, so I’m always curious what they are up to. I hope whatever they do, may they get back to the status of a team they once were.

However, the Mercedes ace added that there is no comparison between McLaren and Mercedes at present. Lewis Hamilton believes that they are still championship-winning side, and they have dominated the last decade. He feels it is just a matter of time before Mercedes get things right, and the results will start showing if the communication gets better. Hamilton even pointed out that everybody in the team focuses on correcting past mistakes, and nobody thinks that they have done everything right. Everybody is well aware of their responsibilities. There is room for improvement, and the team knows it.

Hamilton might be right in suggesting that there is no comparison between McLaren and Mercedes. However, Hamilton might have to change his team. As Toto Wolff once said, if Mercedes fails to provide him with the perfect car in the next two years. But both teams have got many problems they need to fix.

If they want to get a better result this season than the last time. Mercedes engineers are working on special W14 upgrades. It will help the team get a better result in Baku for the next Grand Prix this season. There are a lot of work to be done on the wind tunnel, cockpit, and so on the W14 car.
