The New York Yankees bullpen has been its biggest worry this year amidst a rebound season. With 52-30 record, the Yanks are barely holding the lead in AL-East. However, the bullpen is marred with injuries and inconsistencies which could lead to disaster in the latter half of the year.
That being said, the Yankees front office pulled off a couple of trades in the past couple of weeks. However, Tim Hill and Phil Bickford haven’t met the expectations just yet. Regardless, the Yanks are on the cusp of getting an internal reinforcement soon as a key reliever has advanced in his rehab assignment.
Scott Effross Rehab Assignment Moved From Low-A To Triple-A
New York Yankees relief pitcher Scott Effross is nearing a return to the mound after a lengthy recovery from multiple surgeries. Traded from Chicago Cubs in 2022, Effross pitched 12.2 innings and allowed 3 earned runs and 12 strikeouts before picking up an injury which led to Tommy John surgery. He went through surgery in October 2022 and was tipped to miss the same year’s postseason and the entirety of the 2023 MLB season. That being said, Effross’ return was further delayed due to a back injury, which again required surgery. Hence, he entered the 2024 season on a 60-day IL. Regardless, after many setbacks, the relief pitcher has worked his way through proper rehabilitation and timely recovery.
Scott Effross began his rehab assignment with Low-A Tampa earlier this month and pitched three scoreless innings, allowed one hit and struck out four in two minor league starts. Meanwhile, considering his positive progress, Effross’ rehab assignment has been promoted to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, where he will make his third appearance on Wednesday night. However, Yankees manager Aaron Boone clarified that Scott’s imminent debut isn’t on the cards as he is still building up. However, Efforss is expected to join the team bullpen in the coming weeks, which is a massive boost for the struggling relief corps. Overall, Effross’s journey back to the mound is a testament to his resilience. And his return could provide the Yanks with the depth and stability they need to make a strong push towards the postseason and, ultimately, the championship.
Fans Lose Hope As Yankees Drop Fourth Series In A Row
The New York Yankees lost 12-2 to the New York Mets to lose the two-game Subway series, which also marks its fourth straight series loss of the month. The pitchers were hammered as Luis Gil and Yoendrys Gomez allowed 5 runs each. Meanwhile, for the Yanks, Aaron Judge slammed a couple of homers, which happened to be the team’s only runs on board for the day.
Naturally, with the New York Yankees losing its charm, the fans were left devastated and concerned. Agitated supporters took to social media and slammed the team for being unserious and lacking necessary intent to overcome the Mets challenge. Many believe the back-to-back series losses are alarming, and the franchise must take action to curb the shortcomings before it’s too late.
