Jasson Dominguez, the New York Yankees highly ranked prospect, announced his arrival in style last season. In an unexpected promotion, Dominguez found himself in the big leagues after just a handful of Triple-A games. However, the Yanks dire state forced them to seek the help of the youth.

Meanwhile, Jasson Dominguez remained it’s best bet. The international prospect was signed for a record bonus of $5 million back in 2019. Since then, he has only impressed the league with exceptional hitting and athletic skills. However, after an injury halted his dream run, the Yankees skipper opened up on his return time ahead of the 2024 season.

In the wake of playoff elimination, the New York Yankees summoned youth from minor leagues. The move was to test the depth to figure out who fits in. Top outfield prospect Jasson Dominguez was the first to receive a call-up owing to his intense hype. Dominguez raked the minor league with exceptional hitting power. His home run spree and base running ability sent the league into a frenzy. Thus, the Yanks awarded him with an opportunity to showcase talent on the center stage. Meanwhile, a 20-year-old Dominguez didn’t disappoint and exceeded all expectations. He hit four homers in seven games post-debut to script franchise history. However, just when the Martian was establishing himself, an unfortunate injury played spoilsport.

Jasson Dominguez was shut down after a UCL tear injury. And subsequently underwent Tommy John surgery. Meanwhile, ahead of the 2024 season, New York Yankees skipper Aaron Boone opened up on the prospect’s return. Boone said how he rates Jasson highly and considers him a star in the making. However, the top priority is not to rush his recovery and rehab. So far, the Martian’s rehabilitation is on track and as per schedule. Not only that, but the manager also revealed how Dominguez spent most of the off-season in Tampa under the supervision of the franchise’s conditioning team. However, as far as the return timeline is concerned, Boone isn’t sure about an exact date. Apparently, the prospect’s growth will be assessed in the summer. And a final consensus will be taken accordingly. But overall, Boone expects Jasson Dominguez to return sometime this year. “We are going to make sure he’s fully back. And ready to play full-time,” added Boone.

Besides Jasson Dominguez, the New York Yankees are also monitoring catcher Jose Trevino‘s rehab process. Trevino endured a wrist injury last season, which worsened over time. Ultimately, the medical team called for immediate surgery. And subsequently, Trevino was shut down for the entire season.

Regardless, the catcher is doing fine this off-season and is gearing up for a splash comeback. Aaron Boone recently revealed that Jose Trevino has been hitting off live velocity for over a month now. He added how the catcher remains in a good spot. And is ready to resume on-field activities. Jose is expected to be the Yankees’ lead catcher alongside prospect Austin Wells for the upcoming season.
