Chances Of Los Angeles Lakers TRADING Russell Westbrook Still Possible?

Over the past few weeks, there were strong reports claiming that the Los Angeles Lakers are planning to trade Russell Westbrook. The star player also opened up in a press conference about the possibility of the potential move. However, as the 22-23 season came close, the trade reports slowly faded away with time. And the team coach Darvin Ham also stated to the press that he has faith in the team\’s \’Big Three\’, which includes Westbrook. However, once again, the buzz about the Lakers looking to trade has gained prominence. But why is that? Keep reading to find out.

Lakers Trading Russell Westbrook?

The Los Angeles Lakers sought to move Russell Westbrook this summer. But they were unsuccessful since he is still on the team and will be at least to begin the season. Although, the Indiana Pacers are in the middle of a rebuilding process. And them being Russ\’ new home would have made sense as Westbrook\’s destination was the subject of the Lakers\’ most in-depth trade negotiations.

Myles Turner and Buddy Hield were the possible trade targets for the Lakers. As per the proposed trade, the team would have received them in exchange for their current roster\’s dearth of shooters. The Lakers seriously contemplated handing the Pacers their unprotected first-round selections in 2027 and 2029 up until the evening of Media Day but ultimately decided to wait.

Even still, the Lakers haven\’t ruled out dealing Russell Westbrook, their point guard. As per the reports, the prospect still exists. The Athletic has reported several aspects, including Westbrook\’s performance under Darvin Ham, and his readiness to carry out the established plans would be considered when making that choice. However, the two parties have not yet agreed on the financial details.

According to reports, the Lakers gave the opinions of their new head coach Darvin Ham, Joey Buss, and Jesse Buss, a lot of consideration when deciding how to move forward. Rob Pelinka and Ham\’s scheduled press conference was also postponed. At that point, the organization deliberated whether to proceed with the Pacers trade.

From Laker\’s viewpoint, Turner and Hield complement LeBron James and Anthony Davis more than Westbrook does. When they have the ball in their hands, both James and Westbrook are at the height of their abilities. Furthermore, when asked to spot up, Westbrook is a problem because of his inadequate shooting skills.

As the season progresses, clubs that drop out of the playoff race may grow increasingly interested in Westbrook. However, Pelinka and the Lakers are making the wager that they can maintain their position in the postseason hunt until such personnel enhancements are made possible. The first half of the season for Westbrook and the squad should be entertaining and difficult.
