New York Yankees welcomed generational star and newest recruit, Juan Soto, into spring training last week. The left-handed hitter immediately swayed his new teammates and crowd with his friendly demeanor and superstar presence. Not only that, Soto also addressed a press conference as the newest Yankee earlier this week.
Juan Soto talked about his move to the Bronx and what his plans are to make his walk year with the Yankees worthwhile. When asked about his plans for a contract extension with Bronx Bombers, the slugger shunted the questions. However, captain Aaron Judge’s mindset is clear as he is looking forward to seeking help to convince Soto to stay in the Bronx beyond the 2024 season.
Aaron Judge Will Convince Juan Soto To Stay With Yankees But With Some Help!
Juan Soto addressed a press conference after his first day at the New York Yankees spring camp and talked about his future status with the club. Soto said his focus is on playing good baseball and helping the team win a championship this year. However, as far as future endeavors are concerned, he trusts his agent, Scott Boras, to make the right call. That being said, the Yankee captain Aaron Judge also talked to the reporters on Tuesday and was posed a question related to Soto’s future. Judge was asked to reveal if he is taking any initiative to convince the generational talent to stay back in the Bronx beyond his final season in 2024.
Aaron Judge responded that, as a teammate, he would do everything in his power to talk Juan Soto into signing an extension contract with the New York Yankees. However, the captain believes that the Yankee fanbase would do the most convincing part when the team steps out in the Yankee Stadium on April 5. Judge suggested that the Yankee nation could mesmerize Soto with its warm reception and incredible support. Their love is what could lure the storied hitter into extending his stay in the Bronx beyond the guaranteed 2024 season. That being said, Aaron Judge also showered praises on Soto and promised to support him in every capacity. “The biggest thing is being there for him. Being a good teammate, supporting him,” Judge told reporters. The captain understands that exceptions for the young kid will be huge. Thus, he intends to have his back throughout the season.
Aaron Judge Doubles Down On Injecting Sense Of Urgency Ahead Of 2024 Season
During the media day on Tuesday, Aaron Judge faced the music as reporters grilled him with all sorts of pointing questions. He was asked if the team is treating this season any differently, given it’s Juan Soto and Aaron Boone’s final contractual year in the Bronx.
Aaron Judge said that the urgency to win a title is always constant for the Yankees, irrespective of the contractual status of the players or coaching staff. He added that the team is hungry to win and will give their all in this year to record a successful season. “When you play in New York, it’s every year,” said Judge.
