After a productive training session, Soto turned up for an initial media interview as a Yankee.

Juan Soto talked in length about his first interaction with the Yankees teammates and manager Aaron Boone. Not only that, Soto touched on the most intriguing topic of his future status with the franchise. As the slugger enters his walk year, he opened up on his true intentions of a potential extension with the Bronx Bombers.

New York Yankees’ newest recruit, Juan Soto, appeared for a media interaction on the sidelines of spring training at Tampa. In a funky T-shirt, Soto spoke in length about a lot of things related to his first year in the Bronx. Soto initially revealed how he is excited to step foot in the Yankee stadium. Not only that, he feels playing in the Bronx would feel like home, given the extended Latin community in the city. Interestingly, Soto also addressed his extension contract talks with the Yankee leadership. The slugger confessed that future potential is not on his mind right now. He is focused on registering a successful year in the Bronx and winning a championship for New York.

Furthermore, Juan Soto stated that he would let his agent, Scott Boras, call the shots regarding his future contract with the New York Yankees. “I think that’s one of the biggest things that I have. I trust him so much that I just forget about that, and I just come here to play baseball,” said Soto. Scott Boras has a reputation for being a notorious sports agent in baseball. He has historically advised his clients to opt for free agency where he can fetch a hefty long-term contract. Thus, in Soto’s case, Boras won’t hesitate for a bit to suggest he elect free agency. The 25-year-old’s market value stands at $500 million. And there is no way the Yanks can afford that much whilst having Aaron Judge and Gerrit Cole signed on a $300+ million contract.

In his latest press conference, Juan Soto stated how he is looking forward to competing and bringing home a championship back home in New York. When asked if the Yanks have what it takes to win a World Series title, Soto didn’t hesitate to say yes. “If you see the lineup, if you see our bullpen, the starters, everything. We have everything that we need,” said Soto.

Juan Soto also weighed on added pressure to perform owing to his superstar status. The slugger said how pressure has been a part and parcel of his career. At this point, he is immune. Right now, Soto is committed to giving his best on the field and learning from his mistakes to continue his grind.
