This off-season, the New York Yankees pulled every string to acquire the best possible roster upgrades. From Juan Soto to Marcus Stroman, the front office secured a successful off-season campaign. While the team lost out on a couple of top-tier names, Brian Cashman has no regrets whatsoever.

The GM feels the key issues that bothered the New York Yankees in the 2023 season have been addressed duly. Having said that, the off-season is still open. But the Bombers seem highly unlikely to pull off a significant roster move. Meanwhile, weeks ahead of spring training, WFAN radio hosts delivered their verdict on the competency of NYY’s roster for the upcoming season.

Last season, the New York Yankees finished fourth on the AL-East table with an abysmal 82-80 record. And subsequently finished outside the postseason. However, this year, the club is looking for a fierce turnaround. Meanwhile, WFAN radio host Brandon Tierney issued his verdict on the Yankee roster and deemed it the best lineup in the recent future. “I think the Yankees are the best team in the American League,” said Tierney. The radio host explained how the roster is filled with big names such as Aaron Judge, Gerrit Cole, and Juan Soto. While Judge is a former AL-MVP, Cole is a defending AL CY Young pitcher. Besides, Juan Soto is a three-time All-Star outfielder who is just entering his prime.

Additionally, the Yankees have a golden glove rookie shortstop in Anthony Volpe. The kid recorded a 20/20 season in his rookie year. Moreover, top prospect Jasson Dominguez is slated to return mid-season from Tommy John surgery. Thus, Brandon Tierney firmly believes the 2024 season will be a lot better than the preceding season. The club has worked hard this off-season to upgrade the roster. And on paper, the franchise looks like a lethal force. However, it is important for the Yanks to reflect the same prowess on the field as well to ensure a successful season. As it stands, the front office intends to contest for the World Series championship this year. Thus, every Yankee in the pinstripes must unleash their full potential to contribute to the ultimate cause. In two weeks, NYY will report to spring training, thus kick-starting their 2024 season campaign.

Can Yanks Make One More Move Before Opening Day?

Rumors have it that the New York Yankees remain in play for defending NL CY Young pitcher Blake Snell. Apparently, NYY has been the only club to have made a genuine offer to Snell. However, the two-time CY Young awardee rejected the introductory offer. He wanted more money and additional years and reportedly sought a nine-year $270 million deal.

Needless to say, the New York Yankees pulled out. However, Blake Snell’s market remains inactive. Thus, if the pitcher ends up lowering his ask to meet market standards, the Yanks can re-enter the sweepstakes. After all, Snell is an experienced MLB pitcher. He will leave a profound impact in the short term before age takes a toll.
