The lack of quality hitters at the top hurt the New York Yankees the most in the 2023 season. Thus, this off-season, the front office addressed the particular area of concern. In a major move, the club traded superstar hitter Juan Soto from the San Diego Padres. With that, the Bronx Bombers now possess one of the most dangerous hitting pairs in MLB.

However, the onus now shifts on skipper Aaron Boone to stack up an ideal lineup. Getting the hitting order right is crucial with respect to extracting every hitter’s true potential. While Boone is still contemplating the ideal order, Yankees captain Aaron Judge recently opened up on his choice of three hitters at the top.

Two weeks ahead of spring training, Aaron Judge hosted an ‘All Rise Foundation’ gala dinner over the weekend. A large group of Yankee players attended the event along with influential people from different walks of life. On the special occasion, Judge took the center stage and answered a few questions. One journalist from the crowd asked the Yankees captain about his ideal position in the batting order. Initially, the captain refused to let out specific details. He said Aaron Boone is taking care of the hitting order. All he knows now is that the skipper is planning to field him in center field. However, when pressed further, Judge listed out his ideal top three order.

Aaron Judge conveyed a message to Aaron Boone asking him to keep DJ LeMahieu, Juan Soto, and him in the top three. Judge wants to see DJ as leadoff and would like to bat behind Soto in the hitting order. Interestingly, Boone earlier hinted at placing Judge above Soto to allow him to hit freely, having Soto as the backup. However, the captain’s point of view completely differs from that of the skipper. Regardless, the two parties are expected to sort out differences in the upcoming spring training. As many know, Judge will always put the team’s best interest first. If that requires him to bat ahead of Juan Soto, Judge is unlikely to oppose that idea. Overall, the upcoming spring training will remain a crucial period for Yankee manager Aaron Boone, as he has a big task up his sleeves.
