Arsenal\’s Goalkeeper Backs Martin Odegaard For The Team\’s Captaincy Amid Serge Gnabry Transfer Rumors!

Arsenal missed out on a golden opportunity to qualify for the Champions League as they stumbled during the finals stages of the Premier League. Fighting for the fourth-place on the table against Tottenham, the Gunners were in the lead. However, two straight defeats against Tottenham and Newcastle City cost them an entry to Europe\’s biggest tournament by mere two points. Mikel Arteta also handed over the captaincy to Martin Odegaard during the final few matches of the season after Alexandre Lacazette was sidelined.

While many advocated that the Gunners need a more experienced individual to lead the club next season, Aaron Ramsdale has backed Martin Odegaard for the skipper\’s position. The Gunners will appoint a new captain this summer. Lacazette is set to leave the club as his contract is nearing an end. Thus, the Arsenal goalkeeper believes that Odegaard should be handed the captain\’s armband on a permanent basis after being tested in the final four games by Arteta this season. Mikel Arteta was in need of a captain after former skipper Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang chose to move to Barcelona in January.

Odegaard Favored By Teammates For Gunners\’ Captaincy

Lacazette succeeded the former captain as the Frenchman was seen with the armband regularly this season. However, with the Frenchman set to leave the Emirates stadium this summer, Ramsdale and other Arsenal stars have named Odegaard to be the club\’s next skipper. The Gunners\’ keeper thinks that the Norwegian international is the ideal candidate to be the full-time captain. He has \”literally done everything.\” Aaron also revealed that Odegaard is a calming individual who would be perfect to lead the club.

Earlier, Granit Xhaka also suggested that Martin could definitely become the neXhakat captain. The Swiss international said that Odegaard is the future of the club. The youngster has acted as the captain in Lacazette\’s absence, which he should be proud of. Talking about Martin\’s maturity, Xhaka told the Norwegian is only 23, but his on-field behavior makes him look like a 30-year-old. Granit added that Martin Odegaard looks like he has already played 500-600 games and has the DNA to become Arsenal\’s captain.

Moreover, the 29-year-old pointed out that Martin works very hard each day and does a lot of extra work. He is humble, and everyone in the Gunners\’ dressing room listens to him. Thus, Odegaard\’s teammates are in favor of seeing him as the club\’s next skipper this summer. Mikel Arteta had already made it clear that he saw the immense potential in Martin as a leader. Hence, we could see the 23-year-old becominArsenalg the permanent captain for Arsenal.

Will Serge Gnabry Return To Arsenal This Summer?

Serge Gnabry is set to leave Bayern Munich this summer. It looks like Arsenal is keen on getting the german footballer back to the club. The 26-year-old played for the Gunners between 2012 and 2016. However, he could not establish a permanent position on the first team. Thus, Serge moved to Werder Bremen before joining Bayern Munich. The legendary German club is willing to indulge in transfer talks if the deal is in the region of £33million.

Thus, Arsenal could be a potential landing spot for Serge this summer. He has expressed his admiration for the north London club on several occasions. Moreover, Mikel Arteta is also a big fan of Gnabry. The Gunners manager revealed in 2014 that Serge\’s pace and skills to go and beat people were something very special. Hopefully, Arteta would want that in his squad after they had a bittersweet season with a disappointing end.
