The Los Angeles Lakers are without their star player Anthony Davis for 16 games in a row now. The 29-year-old is a huge part of the LA team, as his monstrous performances gave the franchise playoff hopes. However, since he left, the team has tried to keep themselves on the surface. Consecutive wins led by LeBron James were key to keeping the postseason hopes alive in Anthony Davis’ absence. But the Lakers have missed their physical center, who could give a quality performance on both ends of the court.

As the NBA season reaches its midpoint, the Lakers are in the bottom half of the Western Conference. Following their inconsistent performance, LA has been 20-24 with a win recorded today against the Houston Rockets. LeBron James and Russell Westbrook go big again with their performances to lead their team. James scored a massive 48 points with eight rebounds and nine assists. While Russ scored 24 points coming off the bench. Westbrook had a lot to prove after losing the opportunity to win the game against the Philadelphia 76ers. Meanwhile, reports suggest that Anthony Davis will likely return sooner than expected.

The last time fans saw the former Kentucky star was on Dec 16 in the game against the Denver Nuggets. He left the court after having an unsettling feeling in his foot after playing only 17 minutes of the game. Even though the Lakers won the game against the Nuggets, they have heavily missed him. After his departure, LA has been unable to replace his position and played whatever options they had. Nonetheless, the 2020 champs have done well to keep their team alive in the tournament. Everyone now hopes that Anthony Davis should return as he used to play before his injury.

According to the NBA insider Shams Charania, the eight-time All-star is set to make a return before All-star Week. There is no doubt that Davis’ return will drastically improve the whole team. But the Lakers will have to survive for another month if they want Davis to lead them. Shams also said, “I’m told that the hope is that Anthony Davis will be able to get back out on the floor with a handful of games left before the All-Star break.” This week earlier reports about Davis’s recovery came out, suggesting that he is trying different healing methods.

On Saturday, the injured Lakers team was seen working out along with Anthony Davis on the court. The 29-year-old center was dribbling and shooting the ball with low intensity. Reports suggest that Davis has started running slowly but still cannot do many things. He is not running on both ends of the court, avoiding contact training and all the movement, which could hinder recovery. But Anthony Davis’ return timings could also allow him to participate in the All-star team competitions. However, LA expects nothing but his healthy recovery and a playoff spot.
