Lewis Hamilton is the most famous name in the F1 motorsport universe currently. He is the most successful F1 racer in history, with 103 wins and seven championship titles. Only the legend Michael Schumacher has won the same number of titles, but Hamilton is way ahead of the rest in case of race wins. He is arguably the greatest racer of all time. Hamilton is looking for the eighth title to become the ultimate F1 champion.
Besides his racing career, he is well-known for his endorsements and social activities. He is an ambitious businessman with his fashion tie-up with Tommy Hilfiger and his newly launched Film and Television production company, Dawn Apollo Films. But out of all his achievements which one is his favorite?
When asked this question, he replied, “Mission 44 is what I’m proud of the most.” Hamilton is very well known for his stand against racism. This great British racer founded Mission 44 in 2021. This organization has gone on to do extensive work at the grassroots level with the main objective of fighting racism and spreading equality.
Lewis Hamilton claims that Mission 44 is one of the most diverse non-profit foundations in the United Kingdom in the present times. Hamilton is proud of the growing impact of the organization in various schools in the world. He feels like he has found the purpose of his life through the work of Mission 44. He hopes to help many more kids worldwide, irrespective of caste, creed, gender, or discrimination.
FIA Forming Barriers For Lewis Hamilton’s Noble Purpose
Every time someone wants to do something for a good cause, they face many obstacles. This saying is true for even the seven-time champ too. The FIA has strictly prohibited any drivers from making political, religious, or delicate issue-related statements. However, if they really need to talk about such an issue, then they have to take prior permission from the governing body. Needless to say that it has not sat down well with Hamilton. Currently, the F1 Universe is aware of a cold war between Lewis Hamilton and Mohammed Ben Sulayem, the FIA President.
While speaking to the New York Times, the champ said, “it is really sad to see so many obstacles still present.” Lewis Hamilton proceeded to tell that he needs to bring up these issues. If he doesn’t do it then nobody will give too much importance to the subject of equality. If he does not carry on with the initiative to fight against racism, then people and organizations won’t come together as a whole to eradicate the practice of racism.
Racing Or Fighting For Equality, Which Is More Satisfying?
Lewis Hamilton gives more importance to the idea of fighting for such a noble cause. Maybe more than even his own professional racing career. Hamilton clearly suggested what gives him more satisfaction, racing or social activities. Racing was their passion, the one true dream when he was a kid. But today, nothing gives him more joy than participating in these activities to encourage inclusivity and diversity.
Being the only black driver in F1 Motorsport, his initiatives are inspired by own struggles he had to face to come this far. Very soon, Lewis Hamilton will get on the racing track to kick off the 2023 season for the Silver Arrows. Only time will tell if he will manage to win the much-awaited eighth title making him the ultimate champion.
