Judge slammed his first long hit in the first inning, followed by a grand slam in the second. Later, towards the end of the seventh inning, the captain smoked his third and final homer of the night to record his career first three-homer game. While Judge has achieved unimaginable feats in the past, this is something missing on his starry resume. Meanwhile, his Yankee teammate, Kyle Higashioka, mocked Judge hilariously while congratulating him for his feat.
Yankees catcher Kyle Higashioka has been someone who has had a three-homer game in the past. He smoked three long hits vs. the Blue Jays in 2020. Kyle said that he used to mock Aaron Judge a lot for this. He and Anthony Rizzo always held the absence of the feat over his head for a while. Having said that, the catcher is happy as he has been waiting for the captain to achieve the three-homer game feat for a long time. Meanwhile, Judge responded to Kyle, saying the latter reminded him of missing out on the exclusive club. Starter Luis Severino’s struggles this season are not hidden from the world. The pitcher had an ERA over 7 for the longest time. However, the starter turned it around for good during his start vs. Nationals. Severino pitched six scoreless innings while allowing a mere two batters on the base. Once manager Aaron Boone came out to relieve him, Luis exited the field with a standing ovation from the Yankee crowd.
The crowd, who once booed Luis Severino relentlessly, now voiced loud cheers for him. The fans’ gesture touched Severino. He said that he has been hearing boos from the crowd for a long time. Hence, it was nice to hear the cheers for a change. It was a great feeling. The pitcher added that he has been trying to fix things for a long time, and he is relieved to help the Yankees get some wins finally.
