DJ LeMahieu, known for his consistent performance and versatility, has been a key player for the New York Yankees over the past few seasons. However, the former three-time All-Star infielder has been out of his element this year. In 96 appearances, he has hit .240 with eight homers, 29 RBIs, and .688 OPS. Since May, his form has gone further downhill, and his approach sent the fans into a frenzy. It seemed as if LeMahieu forgot the basics of baseball hitting. Despite everything, the Yankees kept him in the lineup, considering his veteran status. However, his name was nowhere to be found on the Yanks lineup sheet for Wednesday’s game against White Sox.
Later, an official word came out from the club stating that DJ LeMahieu had been feeling some kind of tightness in his calf. Hence, as a precautionary measure, he was made to sit on the bench. Isiah Kiner-Falefa replaced him at third base, and Oswaldo Cabrera took IKF’s place at shortstop. Having said that, LeMahieu’s current status is still unknown. The Yanks have an off day on Thursday, after which they are scheduled to face the Marlins. If the infielder passes the necessary tests by then, he could be seen in Friday’s lineup.
