The New York Yankees took a trip to West Coast last week. After defeating Seattle Mariners, the team moved on to Los Angeles to face the Dodgers over the weekend. Apparently, it did not start off well for the visitors, as they lost the series opener as a result of an offensive explosion from the opposition. Nonetheless, the Yankees pulled off an inspiring comeback, something they are so widely known for.

In the second game, outfielder Jake Bauers exploded with a multi-homer game. Furthermore, DJ Lemahieu, Oswaldo Cabrera, Aaron Judge, and Anthony Volpe capitalized on the momentum to clinch a 6-3 win. The series was all set for a thrilling finale on Sunday as the crowd thronged the Dodgers stadium to witness some of the finest players of the sport in action. While the Yankees missed the services of their captain Aaron Judge, his prodigy Anthony Volpe filled his shoes.

Prior to the series finale against the Dodgers, the Yankees faced a huge blow as Aaron Judge was benched as a result of a toe injury he sustained the other night. Still, the team kept belief, and it was time for the young guns to showcase their talent. This time, the under-fire rookie, Anthony Volpe, stepped on the occasion. With a lead of 2-1 in the ninth inning, the Bombers faced a real threat from the Dodgers’ hitters. However, Volpe provided some insurance runs to ensure the Yankee’s victory.

Facing Caleb Ferguson, Anthony Volpe saw a four-seam fastball coming his way. The fastballs have troubled the rookie for too long in the major league. However, this time around, the shortstop made adjustments to launch the pitch over to the left field to secure a two-run home run. His teammates, including Aaron Judge, were in awe in the dugout. The hit could not have come at a better time. The kid had been facing immense scrutiny for the past few weeks over his slump. However, the skipper, Aaron Boone, always had faith in the notion that the rookie would make a comeback sooner or later. Not only that, Anthony Volpe earned praise from his captain as well, who lauded his ability to thrive under pressure.

Similarly, Yankees pitcher Domingo German made a crucial start on Sunday. The pitcher was coming after a ban that tainted his image to an extent. Nonetheless, German brushed off his past and recorded a stellar outing on the mound. In 6.2 innings pitched, German gave away one run in four hits while striking out six batters in the process.

The pitcher also suffered an injury scare when he rolled over his ankle. The medical team rushed for treatment, and German was able to resume his outing shortly after. Since returning from the ban, the pitcher has witnessed a resurgence as his overall ERA has fallen up to 2.31 in the past six starts. Well, the Yankees would want Domingo German to continue his dream run, especially at a time when injuries are badly affecting the team’s season campaign.
