In his 20 years long career, the power forward has broken almost all the major league records, including NBA’s leading point score held by legend Kareem Abdul Jabbar. At the age of 38, James still possesses what it takes to stay at the top of his game. However, the recent finals loss has apparently broken his spirits.
Los Angeles Lakers lost the Western Conference finals to Denver Nuggets after being swept 4-0. The purple and gold could not even win a single game. Meanwhile, LeBron James, who reportedly played through the entire playoffs with an underlying foot tendon injury, took the loss by heart. Immediately after the loss, he indirectly hinted at retirement, which took the basketball fraternity by storm. However, there’s still a certain fraction of people who feels James will not hang up the boots just yet, which includes his former teammate, Patrick Beverley.

The Western Conference finals loss broke something in NBA veteran LeBron James. He threatened retirement in the post-game presser, saying he has to figure out what his future looks like in the league. Hence, he will take the whole summer to figure out what works best for him. However, not many remain convinced by James’ alleged retirement threats. One among the many is the 38-year-old’s former Lakers teammate, Patrick Beverley. He left the Lakers during the trade deadline to join the Clippers and then the Chicago Bulls. In a recent podcast of his own, the point guard said that LeBron would definitely return next season as he has a lot to chase.
Pat Bev further added that LeBron James is a true hooper who loves the sport of basketball way too much. And it’s not just about playing 40 minutes on the court. James also gives utmost importance to the preparations that come along with it. He trains hardback in the gym and also remains the first person to arrive at the practice. Hence, the point guard believes that James happens to love the sport to the extent that he would be unable to live without it. Well, for the veteran to return, he will mostly have to undergo surgery to treat his right foot tendon injury. Only once he has recovered can he think of an additional season. Regardless, the ball remains in LeBron’s court to decide on his future.
