BCCI appointed MS Dhoni as the new mentor of Team India for the upcoming T20 World Cup. This news came as a surprise to everyone in the nation. Even some members of the council weren\’t aware of it. Not only them, but the selectors learned about it only a few minutes ago before the announcement took place.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni is India\’s most successful Captain in white-ball ICC events. Also, he is the only Indian Captain who has T20 World Cup, One-Day World Cup, and ICC Champion\’s Trophy in his cabinet. On the other hand, the current Captain Viral Kohli is yet to win any major ICC event. Under his captaincy, the team always lost in the semi-finals or the finals of the tournament. As a result, BCCI brings back India\’s most successful Captain of the white-ball matches to advise the current Captain so that team India can lift the T20 World Cup\’s trophy once again.

BCCI Secretary On Appointing Mahendra Singh Dhoni As A Mentor

On Wednesday, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah surprised the nation by announcing that Mahendra Singh Dhoni will work as a mentor of Team India in the T20 World Cup. Jay Shah revealed he took this decision when he met MSD in Dubai, where he is practicing along with the rest of the CSK members for the continuation of the IPL.

Jay Shah stated that he offered Dhoni to be the mentor of the team, and he accepted his offer. He also said Mahendra Singh Dhoni is very excited to contribute to the national team once again. Now, the former Indian Captain will work closely with the head coach, Ravi Shastri, and the current Captain, Virat Kohli, to provide support and direction to the team. The fans of the Indian Cricket team were waiting for a really long time to see the reunion of MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli, and now it will finally happen in the T20 World Cup.

BCCI revealed Team India\’s Squad for the forthcoming T20 World Cup right before they revealed the new position of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. BCCI made several changes to the team as players like Yuzvendra Chahal and Mohammad Siraaj failed to get a spot on it. Below is the recently announced squad of Team India for the T20 World Cup.

Virat Kohli (Captain), Rohit Sharma (vice-captain), Rishabh Pant (wk), KL Rahul, Ishan Kishan (wk), Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Rahul Chahar, Ravindra Jadeja, Varun Chakravarthy, Ravichandran Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah, Axar Patel, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami.

Shardul Thakur, Shreyas Iyer, and Deepak Chahar will serve as standby players.
