The Yankees are all set to win the 2023 baseball championship. The team has well chosen the players in order to make their field evenly strong from all sides. Aaron Judge is back on the team, Carlos Rodon is there, the right handler is already available. And now the team is in search of their left fielder. They are probably looking for Bryan Reynolds, but he is not available in the market, so the Yankees will have to move off the market and trade him from the Pirates.
Recently, in an episode of Toeing The Slab: A Pitching Podcast, David Cone suggested that the Yankees are waiting on Bryan Reynold. Cone, anyhow believes that at some point, the Pirates will let Reynold free for trade, and then the Yankees will go to welcome him. Now one might think, why would the trade go successful? Because the “acquisition cost is key for the Yankees,” as said by David Cone.
Bryan Reynolds was already a good option for the Yankees. He has hit .262 with 27 home runs, 62 RBI, and a .807 OPS throughout the 145 games he played for the pirates in 2022. And speaking of the year 2021, you already know that Reynolds was an All-Star. He is in contract with the Pirates till 2026. For the 2023 season, Bryan is all set with a deal of $6.7 million. With his brilliant scores, David Cone tends to believe that Yankees left field can wait until the trade deadline comes. The team is very much impressed by seeing how good Reynolds can do and has figured out that he sits perfectly for being a Yankee.
“Yankees Waiting For Bryan Reynolds However Long It Takes”
Meanwhile, David Cone suggests filtering through some of the players who are non-rosters. He thinks that Aaron Hicks might choose to rebound. Now we gotta see if Oswaldo Cabrera will do the same thing that he did last year. “Let’s give him a legitimate shot” However, not only are they enough, David thinks that the Yankees are waiting on Bryan Reynolds at present, and they will keep waiting no matter how long it takes.
Currently, the Yankees have several internal options for the left field. They have Aaron Hicks, Oswaldo Cabrera, also Rafael Ortega, who is a lefty hitter. He has been removed from hitting .291 with 11 home runs, 33 RBI, and a .823 OPS in the 103 games that he played for the Cubs.
However, there are some difficulties that the Yankees will definitely face in terms of having Bryan Reynolds on the team. First that he is under contract till 2026. Second, the Pirates love him already. So the trade request might get rejected. Now no, nobody can say anything at present; we will have to wait until the deadline. Only then the Yankees, and we will get to know if Reynolds is on the team or not.
